November 19, 2009 3-day Wonder Cruise

Congrats "sueandkent" on your upgrade, the pixie dust is flying already!

It just kind of took my breath away when I noticed your little countdown thing that said we only have 2-months until we sail! I guess I hadn't thought about it lately but it will be here before we know it. This is an unusual time of year for us to vacation, I prefer to go somewhere in the dead of winter (we live in Minnesota) but the bounce-back offer was too good to pass up. I'm not used to worrying about the last minute details of vacation until after the holidays but I guess I'd better start thinking! :cool1:

Someone posted a while ago about having a name for ourselves and I whole-heartedly agree that we should come up with something. It makes it nice to have something to put on your door sign(s). (Last time I saided was over Valentine's Day and we were the "Valentine Voyagers".) Of course I don't have any really great ideas. Maybe something with Castaway in it (Castaway Cruisers?) I guess on the 3-day we don't actually go to the Caribean so anything with that is out. We'll be in the Bahamas, if anybody can come up with something catchy with that.

Let's put on our thinking caps and see what we can come up with!
How 'bout the "November Nauticals" or the "Week-Before Wonders" for the fact we're going the week before Thanksgiving. Or, Pre-Turkey Day Getaway. Just some ideas. LOL

I checked the room availability last week on Travelocity and it appeared there were about 42 staterooms still open. Not sure if this is good for us or typical....We have only sailed the Magic until now and it has always been almost full. I am not sure what the 3/4 night cruises are like.

Seems as if everybody has been quite for a few days. Where is everyone? Can y'all believe it's just over 30 days away??? Speaking of how many days away, has anybody else experienced some inconsistencies with the countdown banners? After I planned the cruise, I installed a dashboard widget on my MAC that count downs the days until our cruise. I have it programmed to countdown to 11/19/2009 at 10:00am CENTRAL time. You cannot choose a different time zone, it defaults to whatever the time zone of the computer is. Anyway, that countdown "widget" is always a day sooner than any of the other countdown banners. My MAC widget has the following: 37days 22 hours 6 mins 18 secs. Yet everything else says 38 days. Why? Ami I just stupid and cannot figure out dates, or is one right and the others wrong? Maybe it's accounting for time zone, and/or hours, minutes and seconds. Any thoughts????

Also, if anyone is interested in doing a door magnet exchange, or just door magnets in general, and need some designs made. I have stumbled upon an amazing thread here on DIS. Let me know if you'd like it!

See y'all in either 38 or 37 days! LOL

Hi Mike!!!
I saw that you are also in a GTY room.....I check online everyday to see if they have released the assignments yet....no such luck!!! I believe it will be around the 30 day mark(hopefully). I am so anxious!!! I called DCL today to pre pay the gratuities(1 less line to have to wait in on the ship) and asked about the rooms. Of course I got the same generic answer that it could be as much as 10 days out!!!!:scared1: I think last time we cruised Disney (2006) it was around 30 days. Keep your fingers crossed that we get sprinkled with some pixie dust!!!!!
Take Care,
Ellen

Yeah, I keep checking every day too! Here's hoping for some "pixie dust!"

We keep checking everyday as well. I would expect, based on what others say on these boards, to get an assignment in the next week.

I was just checking our stateroom assignment (just being anal!). We are currently supposed to be in Cat 10 stateroom 1065. There are 4 of us going and this room only sleeps 3! This means we are sure to get some form of upgrade! :woohoo: I will be drooling checking the site until the new room list is out :surfweb:

WE HAVE BEEN SPRINKLED!!! I looked online today and saw that our room assignment had been released!!! YAY!!! Now it feels "official." We were upgraded by the Mouse from a GTY Category 11 to Category 8 stateroom # 7504. That's a "Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom!" YAY MICKEY!!! We have a larger (by 30 square feet) room and a porthole window. I've read reviews about this room and it gets GREAT reviews because of it's "quiet" and "hidden away" spot on the ship. If you're on deck 7, come say hi! We're also doing a door magnet and fish extender exchange!

Awesome! I added your room number to our FE list:thumbsup2 I can't wait! It's freezing here in Wisconsin!

No pixie dust for us :sad1: I figured we probably used up our pixie dust when they gave us the land upgrade from mod to the deluxe. Oh well, we booked a cat 12 fully prepared that we would likely get a cat 12.

WHoo-hoo!!!!!
I was so excited when I saw the room assignments had been released!!! We were "dashed"!!!! We got a cat 11 instead of a 12. I suppose because there are 4 of us in the room. Our room is 6504. My sister and I linked our reservation at booking and asked if possible to be assigned near each other...Her family is right across from us in room 6503!!!! I am THRILLED!!! :yay:
We are having a wet morning today with a few sprinkles, bringing a "cold" front.....its supposed to dip down into the 80's instead of the high 90's!!!:rotfl:
Hope everyone is doing well!!!!
Ellen

The days are winding down! Yippee! I am going to be closing out our FE list soon and am looking for anyone else whom would like to join us! I am pretty well set on my FE gifts but it's my DD's birthday this weekend and I am going to go pop my head in the dollar store when I pick up the cake nearby!
Remember to save some room in your luggage for all your gifts ;) We were trying to fit in all the stuff recieved last cruise and almost didn't close our suitcase:rotfl:
It's been raining here all week and in the 40's but we are in for a heat wave of 60 this Sunday:banana:

Congratulations to those who got free upgrades! We always request one of the Secret Porthole Rooms and make reservations months in advance to make sure we get one. We'll be in stateroom #5520 on the starboard side of the ship. We'll probably have our pictures on the stateroom door.

We signed up for the last parasailing of the day so we could rent bikes in the morning and relax on the beach in the early afternoon. At Nassau we'll do the Atlantis tour that includes the aquarium but not the water parks. We've been to Atlantis before but this time my husband's sister will be with us and she's never been to WDW, nor on a cruise, so we're going to be showing her around, and I think the underground aquarium with its lost city theming would be very interesting for her to see.

We'll be at Kidani Village at AKV from Nov 12-19th, doing the Sunrise Safari at AK early the morning of the 19th, then heading for Port Canaveral. We are soooo looking forward to this trip. A week of Disney World and 3 days on the Wonder! Yippeeeee!! :yay:

Hi,

Is anyone on this cruise in room 5505 or 5507 and willing to consider a swap for 6081 or a room up on deck 7? We're trying to get our families together and DCL says the ship is completely full and they can't do anything for us.

Maybe not! There are 4 of us and right now they have us in a stateroom that only sleps 3...LOL! So I do not think they are done shuffling us all around...:surfweb:

Hello all!!!
I was wondering if anyone has gone to Senor Frogs in Nassau??? I've been past it, but never went in. :confused3
Ellen

Why do I have a feeling the next few days leading up to our cruise will go by so slowly? C'mon November 19th!!! Hurry up and get here!!!

Congratulations to everyone who got upgraded, even if it was just a little upgrade. I consider my family VERY blessed to even be able to go on the cruise period, so an upgrade from a Cat 11 to Cat 8 is just God being even "more good."

I've been thinking, about how and where we are all gonna meet up with one another when we're on the ship. Anybody have any ideas? Maybe in the terminal, maybe after the muster drill? We need to put together a plan now, so as many of us that can, can all get together for a few minutes and say, "Hello!" We also need to be able to identify one another. Maybe t-shirts or something??? I'm open for suggestions!

Looking forward to meeting all of you, and looking forward to November 19th!

It's kinda crazy at the terminal and after the muster drill(Everyone is making a mad dash to get to wherever they are going). We tried the sail away party in March but it was too crowded. I think a good place to meet would be the main atrium. There is plenty of room there. What do you think?

Sounds good to me. What time do you have in mind? Speaking of time, what time zone is recognized while on the ship, and for that matter in Nassau and Castaway Cay? Let's decide on a time and place and pass it along to the others.

Maybe we could try for 4:30pm in the atrium before the sail away party? I think the muster drill is at 4. Otherwise maybe on day 2 we could meet in the AM after breakfast and before we all go on our separate ways? What does everyone think?
