Welcome aboard. Fletch88!

Last year I brought a case of water. Then we did not drink half of it. I may bring a few bottles and refill this year.

I have a question for veteran cruisers, most likely the women. How do you handle ironing? Yes, I know it is vacation, but still..... I usually take an iron when we travel, but I know that it is a no-no on DCL. Also, should we bring any "cool" weather clothing (like a sweatshirt or sweater ) to wear? Thanks!!!! Pam

Really?!?!?! You can't bring an iron? I have one of those small steamer/iron combos I was going to pack. Do I need to figure out something else??? :confused3

I'm sure this has been asked and answered several times, so if someone can just provide me with a link to the answer, I'd appreciate it. I need to know what foods/drinks are allowed to be brought on the ship. Specifically, is bottled water allowed? Can I bring snacks for my daughter? Stuff like that! Thanx in advance!! :)

I read on another thread that you can order a case of water to be delivered to your room. It's Evian and a little pricey...I think it was around $25, but if you drink a lot of water it might be worthwhile. Then you don't have to lug it with you and you have it there to carry with you when you leave the ship for excursions, etc. Hope that helps.

Pam 251- Glad to hear that your shirts made it to Ohio. I am getting objections to wearing them from my family too. They will be glad they have the shirts. We are the cool people, and it is our cruise. Everyone who does not have a shirt will wish that he did!

By the way, if anyone else wants in on the shirts, I will place another order, but we need to have 10 more shirts ordered.

Did anyone else get shirts today?

Andrew (tri-circle-d)
We got our shirts!!!! they must have been delivered yesterday but DH usually checks the mail and he's out of town right now so I forgot. The sizes should eb great and I've already made a run to the store to get all the fun stuff to fancy up mine and DD.

Andrew-you crack me up with your sense of humor.

I am so looking forward to meeting "ya'll"......I was born and raised in California, you know, like totally, but my DD was born in Houston so we appreciate the humor :rotfl:

Got mine today. They are great. Thanks andrew.

The checks in the mail. Seriously.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Tonya. :Pinkbounc

Fletch-Welcome to the group!! Chuck is from Pikesville. He has good friends in Columbia that we see when we visit his family. We bought the case of water that's offered on board last year and will do the same this year. It gets delivered to the room and it's very handy to have water especially for excursions!! We have a 6 year old son, Mason and he drinks lots and lots of water!! He's too young for Lampskie's favorite beverage!! He calls beer "daddy juice".

Lisa

Yogamomme and Icemanpad...thanx for the news about the water. I will probably go ahead and do that, instead of worrying about how I'm going to carry tons of bottles on board!!

Lisa...I think Ken said that our rooms are right across the hall from each other! :) Pikesville, huh? Just up the road a bit! Does Chuck like to eat steamed crabs?

Lampy,

Is this the pic you asked about earlier? Doogie has this one on the website.

For newbies, this is Ron and I fighting over the last Miller lite on Castaway Cay. That was just before we boarded to head home last year. sigh

And this view is all I want to see during the daylight hours........

DO you order the water ahead of time, or when you board??? That's a great idea. Probably more economical to bring some of the "other beverage" with us, and get the case of water there!!!!

Did I miss something??? what do you mean you are going to "fancy up" the shirt. I want in on it...... (I did save a mini pair of sunglasses pin that came on the drink I had the other night when we ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise, thought I would pin that on my T shirt)

Pam-we ordered the water after we boarded last year. There was a table set up outside of Parrot Cay. We placed the order there and after lunch, there was a case of water in our cabin. It was great not having to worry about carrying it on board!!

Fletch-Chuck LOVES steamed crabs!! Whenever we go to Baltimore--that is his request!! In fact, we saw "crabs on parade" in downtown Baltimore earlier this year. It will be nice having you as a neighbor on the cruise!!

For those of you asking about water, last year when we got off the ship at the ports, they had a little stand set up with mini soft sided coolers and water. I can't remember what they charged, but you got six bottles of water, ice and the little DCL cooler. This was convenient and useful (not to mention another ingenius way for DCL to make a few more bucks-got to love them). I like the little cooler. We used it for the rest of our cruise last year to carrry our Coronas up to the pool. They are just the right size for a few bottles and some ice. Now, I know that size of a cooler would be of no use to Lampy, but I am talking about for the rest of us.

So you did bring bottles on board? Pam

Yes. We brought a soft sided collapsible cooler with our Corona in it. The documents last year said the same as this year: No coolers. Apparently, soft sided coolers are OK. For whatever reason, you cannot have ice in your cooler. So, what I did was ice the beers down for the drive to port. At the terminal, we dropped off our luggage, and I went to park the car. In the parking lot, I dumped the ice, so all I had was the cold beer in the cooler. When you go into the terminal, your carry ons have to go through a scanner like you see at an airport. They opened up the cooler and looked inside. No problem with the bottles. I also had a zip lock of cut up limes. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't let me bring a knife on board. On reflection, I'll bet you could borrow a steak knife from one of the dining rooms. When you get to your room, the steward can hook you up with some ice. Just give him a little advance on his gratuity. Those coolers probably leak, so we lined ours with a trash bag. The "refrigerators" in the cabins are pretty much useless, so I wouldn't count on the room fridge to cool your beer. When I brought the beer up to the pool, they asked that we pour it into plastic cups. No problem with that-I wouldn't want to step on broken glass either, and things can roll around up there on the deck. We didn't bring any beer to Castaway Cay, but I think I will bring a few this year. So, if you want to bring bottles, bring them.

Pam,
I don't usually wear t-shirts, just not my style, so I am going to make mine into a tank top of some sort. I bought some ribbons and trim and we'll see what I can come up with. Since the shirts didn't come in toddler sizes the one I had to get for DD is too big so I'm going to make hers into a dress....she is REALLY into princess stuff and we both love tinkerbell, so we will go along that theme.

Lovely, we're having a Colorado hurricane right now. Nothing like the ones everyone else had to suffer through but the wind is wicked right now!
