Hurricane recipe




Scale ingredients to servings
1 oz vodka
1/4 oz grenadine syrup
1 oz gin
1 oz light rum
1/2 oz Bacardi® 151 rum
1 oz amaretto almond liqueur
1 oz triple sec
grapefruit juice
pineapple juice





Pour all but the juices, in order listed, into a hurricane glass three-quarters filled with ice. Fill with equal parts of grapefruit and pineapple juice, and serve.

Cant recall on the docs, do you fill out the Bahama immigration forms now or on the ship. I filled out the booklet from DCL, but dont remember what I did with the immigration forms on our last cruise.

John, had the vette fest here in Chicago this weekend.....had to get things done around the house....one more Sunday left.....when you drive a vette and someone pulls up next to you and wants to race I just look at them and smile, I know I already look good.....don't need to be doing 120 on the local roads....and John you can risk driving yours on the track it's ALREADY wrecked ....ooppppssssss sorry....cheap shot! But you expected it! Didn't ya?

Sherri- Those luggage tags need to go on all of your checked luggage. It is what they use to get your bags to the correct stateroom. Every piece needs to have one of the official tags.

Someone else will need to answer that one. We drive from home to the port, so we put the tags on our luggage at home. If you are flying, maybe you are better off waiting until you get to the port, but I don't know.

We put them on at home....we stay at BC and we never see our luggage.....goes right there...same if you fly in on Saturday, bring a carry on with a change of clothes....if you are flying from cold weather....they will take your luggage directly to the boat.....the reason they ask for your flight #.

What kind of sissiefied way is this to make a Hurricane? At the liquor stores around here, you can but a package of Pat O'Brien's Hurricane mix. It is like a big package of Kool Aide. You mix that up, add rum, and watch out. Those things sneak up on you, and it is never pretty. My aforementioned friend was famous for bringing the fixings for Hurricanes on previous cruises. That practice has been banned by the DW's. For good reason, I might add.

Maybe I should offer to bring my 30-06 as a precaution? Those pictures of those "pirates" in the little boats trying to disable the ship were comical.

My aught-six is dead on at 300 yards. Put some hunters on the bow with deer rifles. Yeah, that's the ticket!

I feel safer already! Did you hear what they actually used to get rid of those punks? It was some kind of a sonic device created by the US Navy. I never knew such technology was actually in use. That cruise line is a subsidiary of Carnival. It is good to know that cruise ships have these types of protective devices. Of course, on our cruise, we will have an endless supply of Miller Lite cans to pelt them with!

I have a question for veteran cruisers, most likely the women. How do you handle ironing? Yes, I know it is vacation, but still..... I usually take an iron when we travel, but I know that it is a no-no on DCL. Also, should we bring any "cool" weather clothing (like a sweatshirt or sweater ) to wear? Thanks!!!! Pam

Pam (Cody'smom) - I don't iron on the cruise! Pretty much I find that if I hang up my clothing in the shower room, it helps to dewrinkle things, plus it seems to be so humid anyway, that wrinkles aren't too much of a problem. Any wrinkles that decide to be stubborn and hang around, I just ignore and figure everyone else has wrinkly clothing, so we are all in the same boat.

If there is something you really must iron, I do recall there being irons in the laundry rooms. You may want to take along a handkerchief to place over your clothing that you are ironing, because the irons were all pretty scorched and if you are ironing something white, I would not want to chance a mark. Also, try to plan on ironing early in the day, as there is a rush before dinner. I learned this on our first cruise, and have decided to forgo all attempts at domestic duties while onboard from now on.

As to the cool weather clothing, bring a sweater. I find it does get cool on deck in the evenings, especially if the ship is moving quickly to the next port, and also the dining rooms are chilly. Also, it is cool leaving Port Canaveral if you are in the very front of the ship, top deck, during sail away. We have this need to be up there and watch for dolphins as we leave the port (don't laugh, DH and Alicia saw them one time!).

Pam-I agree everything that Magyar2 said...sweaters, sweaters, sweaters....especially in the movie theaters. Now as for the ironing....as soon as we went to our rooms, I immediately unpacked everything and I like the idea what Magyar said, is let the shower steam it. For my formal gown, I had the housekeeper to take it down to have it press and got it back very quickly. The cost wasn't much but it was worth it to me.
