November 13, 2011 Mexico on the Wonder

New to the thread... I'll be joining all of you with my DH, DS - 7 and DS - 4. This is our 2nd Disney Cruise - we actually did the exact same cruise back in February - loved it!! Just booked the Pirate excursion in PV... was sold out last time by the time we tried to book it. Not sure what we're doing in Cabo yet... any suggestions?

:welcome: dsinger44!

I think me, my husband and my two girls...Emily age 13 and Clara age 10 will joining the fun. This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise!!! Any other girls my girls age? What is the plan so far regarding FE...new to it but super interested...how many people participating so far?

Welcome! Here's the FE info post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=42099786&postcount=143

So far there are 4 of us that are in for sure, and hopefully there will be more. Once final payment time rolls around, people have more of a tendency to commit to things (and we get new people on the thread as well). Anyway, I'm hoping for somewhere around 10-12 participating rooms so that it is a manageable number for all of us (and I've found some fun FE gifts and bought around a dozen). You should join us with the FEs, they are a lot of fun. Our last cruise my 12 year old niece came along and she LOVED the FE swap.

Okay, I just realized that there are 5 of us doing the FEs (I forgot that Susan said she was in over on the FB page). I'll keep the list current on that post (post #143) as to the DISers participating. The very first post on our thread has a list of those sailing with us, and I also added a link to the FE info for easy reference.

Welcome to our thread! So, what did you do last time in PV and Cabo? Tell us about the ports. Was there much to do in walking distance from the ship?
In PV, we did the Paradise Beach Adventure. The hotel, pool and beach were beautiful. My kids loved the giant aligator waterslides. The food was okay - not a lot of choices, but the guacamole was wonderful. It definitely was a good time. In Cabo, my older son and I did the dolphin swim and it was fantastic. Swimming with the dolphins truly is an amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone. The second day in Cabo, we didn't have any plans... we walked to CaboWabo (my DH had to check it out) and we were trying to walk over to beach area, but it got too hot... we ended up getting a water taxi and just asking them if they would take us for a ride around the Arches...it was cheap (maybe $4 per person - can't remember exactly) and it was wonderful! We probably rode around for about 45 minutes. We'll probably do that again one of the Cabo days... there is a LOT of stores and restaurants to walk to in Cabo... we were told that "The Office" is a great place to go and get something to eat. We didn't make it there last time, but we'll probably try this time. I would love to do the canopy tour, but my kids are too young and I'm just not sure about leaving them on the ship while we're in Cabo...

Anyway - can't wait!! I'd love to join the FB page you have... can someone add me... Dawn Singer...

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. We have the Paradise Beach Adventure booked. How was the beach? I just want a nice beach to let the kids play on and be able to sit and watch the waves and such. I was looking into doing an all inclusive resort in PV so that we could use the beach as well but reviews I read said the beach there wasn't that great, which is why I booked the excursion instead. Did you 4 year old like the slides at the resort? Do you feel it was worth it? I'm just trying to find something to do that will be fun for everyone (my mom, DH, DD4, and DS0).

Hi Lee, my girls are 10 and 12 (going on 13!) so we'll make sure to meet you! This is our first cruise ever. I so look forward to it!

It's actually my DH and I at Palo..I'm wearing a black dress with the shoulders cut out and my DH is wearing a grey shirt with a black jacket...thanks!

looks like only friends can be added so I sent a request

Maybe somebody can make a spreadsheet that has the names, ages, room numbers, if they are participating in FE, any other activities like meet and greet...wine tasting....drink mixing....I saw the spreadsheet on other threads and it seemed really helpful and easy to read....any other activities planned? Any specifics about the gifts for FE?

It's me again....spending hours on the Dis boards....do we have a "name" for this cruise? Thinking about my FE gifts......

Dawn, I've added you to the FB group.

Liana, no "name" for our group yet. Anyone have suggestions?

Once I have more info for the FEs, I'll create a spreadsheet or document with all of the info and email it out. I don't want to post it on here because I'd prefer to keep the names and email addresses private so only our cruise meet members can see it. As far as specifics about the gifts, I think we will just leave it up to each individual as to what type of gift you want to do (homemade, store bought, home town themed, Disney themed, one per person, one per stateroom, etc).

We haven't discussed other activities, but in the past I've done a quick meet & greet around 3pm in the Promenade Lounge on the first day (just before the muster drill at 4pm--at least those were the times for the cruises sailing out of FL, we'd better check on that). That way we can say hello and give any last minute info about FEs and put faces with names. I hadn't brought it up before because it seems to make more sense to decide specifics once the cruise is closer.

I agree with Shauna, the cruise meet at 3pm at the Promenade lounge (deck 3) has worked well on my last 2 cruises. It was good to finally put faces to names.

As for cruise names I generally let someone else with more creativity to plan that out.

Here is what we had for our last 2 cruises:
DIScovering Neverland
Sailing into a WONDERful New Year

I think the one for our Alaska cruise is Frozen Fireworks.

I love the DIS part of DIScovering Neverland. We could even do DIScovering WONDERland to tie in the ship, or leave it Neverland for the Peter Pan tie in. Anyone else have thoughts about a name? I can change our cruise meet thread title once we decide on one.

I was trying to think of a name having to do with the Mexican Riviera...or maybe even something to do with Fall....but no luck yet....

Mickey's Mexican DIScovery

DISney Fiesta something

WONDERful Fiesta .... hmmm, trying to brainstorm

Shauna, might it be more difficult for people to find our group if we change the name of the thread?

Here is the picture we had for our Discovering Neverland cruise. Once we determine on a note, maybe finding someone on the DISign boards to create us a picture.
