November 11, 2006 - MAGIC - Special Western "Double Dip" Cruise 11/11/06

According to cruisecal.com there were four ships scheduled for Cozumel today...the Magic arriving AFTER the other three. Wonder when they got there and why they got the slip. I looked for a "live from the Magic" trip report, but didn't see one. Can't wait to hear the details of this!

what beach should we go to in cozumel? we do not want to take an excursion...any ideas? where are y'all going???

Ditto! We're thinking maybe Paradise. DH may do a clear kayak and snorkel excursion (not through DCL). The rest of us will be beach bound!

Hello All,

Was just to tired to stay up for the chat on Tuesday. My mom was in town for an extended weekend and we were constantly on the go or doing something. Between soccer games, golf team practice, cub scouts, boy scouts, dinners here and there it was a busy time. She left Tuesday am. About 8 pm Tuesday night I hit the bed. My lovely wife woke me up at about 9 to tell me I had an invite to join. I mumbled something, rolled over and went back to sleep.

The weather channel says it is going to be 48 degrees overnight. Our first sub 50 of the season. That means we must be really getting close to CRUISE TIME. Yeah. So much to do and so little time.

The temp. issue is a funny one David. The only way those of us in No. CA can tell it is getting close to cruise time is that the stores are starting to stock Christmas stuff next to their Halloween stuff. The weather here is still in the 90s during the day (yet we did drop to the 50s at night instead of the 60s). I can tell you one thing though... the kids are ready for a break from school! Two of them go "off track" on Oct 27th, and they are counting the days. My oldest is about 3 weeks away from his first "finals week." Things are certainly jumping around here.

Didn't someone on here post recently that Budget was out of cars for our cruise? I can't get search to work (of course)--maybe somebody can look faster than my dialup can and tell me what that post said or whoever posted will let me know?
Is there another rental car agency close by port?
Guys, I'm sorry to say, it doesn't look like it is in the cards for us to get to/from this cruise! NOTHING is working out for us...

We're electing to drive down from Ohio. Would DH consider that as an option...but from MS instead of OH?

We're planning on making the drive down to arrive on Friday. We're staying Friday night at the Residence Inn. They have a shuttle that's taking us to the terminal for $3/person, and we're able to leave our car at the hotel for the week at no charge. Just a thought. Hope it all works out OK for you.

just as an FYI to all of you - Budget seems to be sold out of cars for the 18th, we rented from hertz instead.

Wow how exciting to see the Magic docked at Cozumel. I had actually received a letter from DCL suggesting that if they were still tendering for us to plan on keeping Angelina on the boat.This is really great news!!

We're hitting Paradise in Cozumel as well. The pics on their website look fantastic. And hey! let's face it...ANYwhere there is a beach and a waiter carrying drinks with umbrellas in them...I'm so THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once time aboard the Magic, our ship arrived at St. Thomas before others, but we had to tender. We were told the cruise lines take turns docking, and it's assigned in advance.

oh! Had my first cruise anxiety dream last night....I know, a wierd thing to get excited about, eh?

I was at the terminal, but couldn't get on the ship because I had left something important at home. But I was able to call Peg and have her pick it up at my house and bring it with her because she wasn't coming till the next day (don't ask me how that was supposed to help me get on the ship then). I think my subconscious was mixing up the Vegas trip with the cruise (because we thought Peg might not be able to come to Vegas till Sat AM).

Oh, Dee......Peg is coming Friday night!
