Deb...Don't think DH has ever played golf, but I'd guess he'd be up for poker (for that matter, so would I!). He will defnitely be one of the ones checking out the electrical/mechanical and how the whole ship is built (and different from the Navy ones he's been on). How do you keep the boys quiet while your DH is trying to sleep??? Well, yours are older than mine, but still...that's a challenge above and beyond homeschooling. Do they have a good homeschooling community in your town?

DIS NURSE...go geeks!! (In our house, that's a compliment!) I'm guessing your DH and mine could have a whole conversation and I'd just be staring blankly ahead having NO idea what they're talking about.

Wendy...It's been so long since I've been to SF and never with little kids and always on an extreme budget, so it never really occurred to me that there are restaurants right there on the wharf. Duh! We'll check those out, I'm sure we'll find something. I think we'll pass on the drive to Sausalito...just trying to rein in the driving for that week. Thank you for helping us out!

The boys are older, but I still have to tell them to be quiet. It gets difficult at times. I run a "Boys Club" here at the house on Mondays. It was going pretty well until winter hit and they couldn't go outside or to the park to run and scream. Yes, we do have quite a few homeschooling communities here in Elk Grove. We belong to a couple, but being busy with our own life limits us on what we can do. Will you bring school work for the kids to do on the ship?

I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys/gals... it's a shame my DH isn't going, guess what he does? He's a software engineer! Can you believe the geeks we are married to? He's a great guy, and loves to wander around with his head in the clouds... he loves being out at the stables, and just hanging with the horses, says it clears his mind. He'll be home taking care of the "kids" (two horses, two dogs and the cat!).

MICHELLE9343... where on Long Island do you live? I lived on Long Island for 5 years! 1979-1984 (Stanley Cup winning years!) I lived in Wantaugh, Lindenhurst, Westbury, hmmm where else... I cannot remember. I worked in Carle Place at Chubb INsurance Company ... my gal pal Theresa moved out here because of me and now her parents and sister live here too! Jackie and I are originally from NW Indiana - Chicago - NY for me. Now AZ.

I worked in Syosset at ComputerLand for awhile too! That was a long long time ago....


I'm soooo glad it's FRIDAY - I had a tough week as well. Stomach crud early on, then just craziness at work. I am still hoping to get a job offer either this week or next, but in the meantime, I sure am being "tested" by the GODS!

The gal I went in to "help" had brain surgery today... yep neurological troubles. But hopefully this worked for her. She'll be going down to receptionist position, less stress and easier for her... she's been really afraid of losing her job because she has been LESS than functional for months and month. Needless to say, I walked into a mess... but I'll get it cleaned up. I just wish the "emotional situation" wasn't there. But I just keep smiling, and then venting to JACKIE! THANK GOD FOR SISTERS!

Ok, peeps, sorry I missed the Tuesday night chat, hopefully next week. Did I miss anything? I'll ask Jackie at dinner, she's on her way home from work as we "speak". Have a great weekend all.

I used to live on LI, grew up in Lynbrook(home of the orignial white castle). When I got married I lived in Island Park (between Oceanside and Long Beach) Now I am lucky enough to live In Fla 35 mins from the MOUSE.It is always so funny to hear people talk about places on LI. Brings back a lot of childhood memories.

Hey Michelle! I know Lynbrook... I had a friend "ginger" who lived there. Aren't you lucky living by the Mouse now... I live 5.5 hours by car from the "other" Mouse! I couldn't do FL.... though too humid for me and too many hurricanes! But it would be lovely to be that close and be near Epcot as well. Are you crusin in November?

So Linda... I guess you don't want to hear about DS wearing shorts and jumping rope in the backyard? Don't worry... he'd do that in snow too!

Enjoy the snow, and dream that you are really in Italy watching the Olympics live instead of watching it on TV. The best winter Olympics for me was the one in 1998. We were in Yosemite (picture blankets of snow all around- 6 inches fresh that morning) sitting in the lodge watching ice skating on TV after spending all morning at Badger Pass watching my oldest - 5 years old at the time - learn to ski. It was so peaceful. What a wonderful vacation, and a great way to enjoy watching the Olympics.

We are very happy at the Gray-Fallon house this week....
We just received a letter that our DD who is a junior in college is on the Dean's List...
...and our DS was accepted at Villanova Law school and Suffolk (in Boston MA) Law School......
As we expect our children to put us in REALLY nice nursing homes some day.....we are VERY Pleased..

The rumors about the European Cruises for 2007 seem to be getting less rumor-y and more reality ......
Guess I will have to put off Alaska until 2008

....and eastern Long island is on a BLIZZARD watch with 12-18 inches predicted...I am going to put on a pot of soup and wwatch the snow fall​

Pat, congrats on the childrens. I believe that is a true testiment to their up bringing.

As for the blizzard. All I can say is better you than I. It is cold, rainey and nasty here. We are expecting snow but, fingers crossed, hope we will get nothing.

So, I guess I can't mention the today and yesterday and the day before that, eh? But one day it did rain....HOWEVER ithe rain evaporated BEFORE it hit the ground! Very bizarre (how many z's and r's in that word?)...I walked outside after work...it smelled like rain...but no rain! Actually it hasn't rained in the valley in over 100 days....we could really use some

Peg and I went to a movie and lunch....guess what we talked about? YOU GUYS! Was everyone's ears burning?

My DH and I along with our little girl are counting days. WE cruised last yaer with our whole crew. This year ,us 3 and our friends who have never been. WE are much older set of parents, but are having a blast with our little one. Hope to meet up in lots conversation with all of youas the months go by. Does anyone know some good scoop on ways to get all the autograghs? We did get a scoop from a cruiser about Tea with Wendy if you wait to get the last day she will take one on one pictures anywhere on that deck with you. We just found out about this site. Can't wait to talk with you all.
