Good morning people!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

I was up at 5h00 this morning couldn't sleep anymore!!! Was thinking about our flight:rolleyes:

So excited that we have a direct flight.

We leave from Montreal on Friday the 9th at 8:25 am arriving at MCO at 11:45 am. Don't think our room at the Hyatt will be ready...but no worries there!!!!

And coming back home we'll take the 12:35 flight and we will be home at 3:39 pm, just in time to go see my son's hockey game that day!!!!:rotfl:

Nothing could be better this morning!!!!!!!

Now, I have to go shop for some running shoes, because mine are....let say....well.......tired!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:

Lauri, glad you're back in the game with us!!!!!!!!!;)

Lauri, congrats on the Bar Mitzvah!

I tried telling DS's 3rd grade teacher about the cruise a few weeks ago and it didn't go well at all. This is the first year we had a problem with the teacher and taking DS out of school. Our school has an "illegal" absence policy for family vacations but his previous teachers all told us to have him write a journal, catch up the work when we got back (they can't give homework in advance per school policy) and have a great time etc. But this teacher is really not happy! She was quoting policies, telling me DS would get a zero on all quizzes missed and can't give any work in advance (which I understand is policy and I don't want her or any other teacher in trouble) :scared: I told her I understood but he's still going.....I may just have to call the school each morning and tell them he's sick for 4 days!

On the bright side my 3 1/2 yr old FINALLY is daytime potty trained :cool1: We've been telling her for over a year she had to be potty trained to go on Mickey's boat. The other day after going potty, she looked up at me and said "I can go on Mickey's Boats now! I can go in the Mickey pool, go on the yellow slide, go in the clubs, dress up...." Ok, I admit, we've watched the DCL DVD a bit much :lmao:

Hey all,

I can't believe how much you miss when you are away for a day!

French Snow White, so glad you got your flights!

Yndygo, thanks for the info on dress barn, I have one near me so I'll get over there for wraps to cover the flabby arms!

Stimpy, I am also ordering from Perfect Gift, I just have to decide what I want to put in the basket with the sand toys- my son hates candy and juice, so I think I'm going to go with crackers and a Mickey straw cup. I talked to Shirley and she said she could customize it, so I was excited about that.

Lauri, I am terrified to tell my son's teacher about our vacation, I'm planning to wait until the last minute! :scared1:

Cheryl, I'm with you -I've spent huge amounts of money on this cruise and we haven't even left yet! If my husband had any idea what I'd spent so far he'd probably have a stroke. Luckily I get to the mail first so he hasn't seen all the credit card bills! He did notice the overflowing box of cruise stuff in the closet, though, and didn't die of shock. ;)

Anyone start packing yet? I set aside all my son's and my shorts/shirts for the cruise, but I want to wash them with Sunguard first before I pack them.

I've started to put some thing in our suitcase, like sunscreen, seasickness pills etc...

But no clothes yet....

I've officially gone insane - every day I buy something else online for this cruise! I just was on Disney shopping and ordered a few more things - there were some cool items for less than 10 bucks - how could I resist? Plus yesterday I ordered myself a bathing suit at LandsEnd when I was just going to order my son some water shoes! YIKES! I guess it's a good thing I have to go to Wisconsin tomorrow night on business - no access to a computer or online stores for three days!

Hey Michele!
I have missed you! How are those door magnets going? I have not started packing because we have been wearing all the summer stuff until now. The weather has finally turned and I am about to go into the closets and rotate stuff around and pull out the stuff that the kids will probably wear on the cruise. There is really not too much in my closet yet. I did pull out those lighted necklaces we got at Disney last year and got the autograph books out too. I just got the childrens Bonine and am waiting for the ginger gum to arrive. I also need to get some new athletic shoes. I have beat this pair up pretty good. Eeek more money.......and I am not working today since my Dad is sick and can't watch the kids. NO MONEY FOR TODAY ...OUCH :headache:

Oh yeah .....did I mention that I went out and got the kids rolling BackPacks/suitcase so they could carry their own junk? Homework, blankets, DS', little toys or dolls. CHA CHING......Our school district does not allow rollers otherwise I would have purchased them long ago and just used them for the year and for the cruise!

I'm afraid to tell both the kid's teachers too. Our school district got very strict about 2 years ago, and limit family vacation days to 5 for the school year. After that, we have to appear before the district judge. I guess we can only cruise, and not visit the grandparents from now on :rotfl: .

Michelle and Cheryl--just wanted to warn you not to overpack with all your shopping. How else will you have room to bring stuff home from the cruise:confused3 . Seriously, each year we have gone, we found that we wore less and less of our clothes:eek: (I mean, that we packed), and have learned to pack less.

We are late packers. We'll probably pack on Thursday, and we leave Friday. And the weather is still so crazy here, that it's long stuff in the morning, but shorts in the afternoon. We're still wearing all of our clothes.

Hey Cheryl - I've missed you too - I have been crazy busy lately. I made the mistake of planning an all day scrapbooking event this weekend so I've been trying to organize that (what was I thinking? :confused3 ) and then we have my son's birthday party the weekend before the cruise so i have been working on that as well. As you can imagine, no more magnets have been created! I wasn't so good at it anyway. :rotfl:

Sorry to hear that you couldn't work today - but that means you can spend more time here with us!!

Lauri,

I figure we each get two suitcases, so I plan to use my son's second suitcase as an extra to carry home souvenirs. It will basically go down to Florida empty. :thumbsup2 My husband will likely freak out when he learns this plan. :lmao:

Us too Lauri!
I always *say* I'm going to be packed by the weekend before - but I'm always up until 2 a.m. the night before packing! lol...

Ah well, I guess that's why it's good that we're getting there a day early so I can catch up on my sleep before getting on the boat! :)

I am such a last minute packer too! But I will HAVE to have some sleep the night before. Our flight leaves at 6:30 AM  That means I will be dragging my kids out of bed at 3:30, have them brush their teeth, and then leave. Hopefully, they will sleep on the plane. Maybe not....with all the excitement. So I am expecting the first day to be a bust...no late nights for us! If I knew then what I know now from the DIS boards, I would have arrived the day before!

I was already planning to be frugal with the amount of clothing we bring with. With 6 in my family I am HOPING that I can get away with 3 pieces of luggage and a garment bag. Each of us, maybe not Mark, will have a carryon.

That reminds me....anyone sending a box for delivery to the ship? If I was going to do this for costumes and goodies what do I do?

Lauri,
We are down on 1 too. I originally had category 6's but had to downgrade. Its all they had left for connecting rooms. What room are you in?

If you think you're lonely, we're down in the dungeon! We're on deck 1, but it's by choice. It's our third time booking the same room, but we did upgrade at the port last year to deck 7. We like being low down, and it's great exercise using the stairs everywhere.

Lauri

I told my children's teachers about the cruise at the parent/teacher conference. I did forget to mention it to one teacher but I don't think I'll have a problem. They just have to do a project on their vacation.

How many of you are going without your children??????

We are........

Our children are staying with grandma:goodvibes

What? Where.......if you come in again you'll just have to come down to CHICAGO and visit me! :hippie:

Forgot to respond to this earlier! I'm going to Milwaukee, but they are direct flights - no connection through Chicago. I'll keep you in mind next trip - I connect through Chicago a lot it seems! :goodvibes

DH and I figure out a suitcase trick on another cruise. We will pack a smaller suitcase and put it inside an empty one. That way you have the extra bag for all the goodies you find on the trip.

The other thing we have done is to pack one suitcase with snacks, ginger ale and such.

I have tried to be good and get as much "no iron" dresses as I can. That will save a little bit of room in the one garmet bag.

Ah I see another woman with a husband like mine! He has been seeing me work on the computer and keeps asking me what I am doing. I told him it is surprises and told him to politely bug off. Between all the money I have spent on magnet paper, costumes (we are using for them for Halloween too), matching shirts, seasickness meds and other little stuff I have spent a lot. That is nothing compared to what I expect to spend over the course of 10 days that will include what I expect to be another booking. I guess though that is why I work! :rotfl:

I'm so with you! I'm hoping that some of those yummy carribean drinks and that "exotic rasul" spa time ;) makes him forget about all those dollar signs! :rolleyes1
