November 10, 2007 - MAGIC - Eastern

My neighbor is going to make my fish extender for me. I gave her the materials today. I have no clue how to sew and she's always sewing things.

What excursions are those with young ones doing? We are doing the seaworld explorer in St. Maarten. Anyone else? Also, do any women want to get together and go shopping in St. Maarten in the early afternoon or around 2 or 3pm? My husband will stay on board with the kids and I want to go sightseeing and shopping.

We're doing the Seaworld Explorer - Coral Reef Exploration on St. Maarten - b/c my DD is 4 1/2 and I've heard great things about it for those her age! :)

Maybe we'll be on the same one!!

My DH won't let me out with the credit card either FrenchSnowWhite... I think he knows that's dangerous!
:goodvibes

FrenchSnowWhite/Manon:

Have you gotten your flight stuff resolved yet?
Mine was "magically" fixed just now when I checked.
I suspect the power of the DISboards at work again - since it sure isn't 21 days out yet... but it's suddenly fixed on the Disney site and on the res!! :)

Whatever the method, I'm so relieved, but I wanted to check and see if you are fixed yet??

(crossing fingers!!)

No nothing yet:sad2:

Yndy...I love the door magnet! I showed my mom last night and she really adored it. Great job!!!

FrenchSnowWhite...sending good vibes that you get the air straighten out really soon :goodvibes

I got our fish extenders on Friday and they are awesome. I have to personalize them a little so hopefully there is less chance of them "disappearing" on board. Our stateroom is right across from the midship elevators/stair case so I'm a little worried about the high traffic area. Plus we had the same stateroom last cruise and there were always teens hanging out on the stairs in front of our room. They were well-behaved and there was only 1 night they got in trouble for noise from security. I hope we have the same luck this cruise.

How many of you are letting your Ds & DD's that are 8 or 9 sign out privaledges from the kids clubs?

I wan't going to let my DD8 do this because I want to know where she is, but people on the main thread had some good ideas for this. Just wanted to know what other people think.

HI All,

I have not posted in a long time since I have been traveling like crazy for business. The whole family is getting really excited about the cruise.

Question for you experienced cruisers......we booked category 12 GTY and now we have been assigned a category 9 room on the 2nd deck...it was nice to get the upgrade BUT I looked up on the cabin reports that this room is very noisey from the engine and crew. Should I call my travel agent which is one on the online companies or should I call directly myself? I would either want to change rooms or if they have an upgrade a good cost I would consider that also. Any advise is appreciated. We will have my DH and myself in the room as well as our DS and our DD in a crib.

I am not an experienced DCL cruiser but, If I were you I would get with your TA first thing in the morning. The cabin reports would make me quite nervous about noise!

You may have already seen my response on the general board. I am letting Susan 9 have her sign in/out privledges with some strict rules about letting us know where she is at all time. I figure this is a safe place for her to have some freedom and responsibility for herself. If she were 8 I think I would have some serious concerns, but, it would depend on the maturity of the child.

I am not allowing my children to sign out themselves. They would be running up and down the ship non-stop. At least one of them would be. If they want to do something with a friend, they will have to ask me first or page me.

No sign-out priviledges for my 8yr old. But he's a young 8, he just turned 8 today! :cool1: I just don't think I could relax if he had the ability to come and go on his own at this point. Maybe next cruise :)

Anyone planning on ordering from Shirley? I have 4 baskets I plan on ordering, I just have to give her a call soon. I've gotten them for the past few cruises and they are great.

Stimpy,

I read a great tip on another thread - Just use one of those "railroad ties" that you use on luggage to attach the fish extender to the fish. Just have to remember to have scissors so you can cut it off when you leave. That's what I'm planning on doing. I will have extras if anyone needs them.

I've been out shopping all weekend, so havent' been online. This thread's been busy - I'[ve had a ton to catch up on! I did get my dresses for formal/semi-formal/Palo. I'm a little nervous because I could only find sleeveless (which I hate- flabby arms!!) but I'm hoping to get a nice little jacket to go over them. I can't believe we are getting so close to our trip! :yay:

We always carry zip-ties - you can pick them up so cheaply at Walgreen's or the Supermarket...
We use them for 'securing' the suitcases during the times we leave them in the hallways (like at the Hyatt MCO or on the ship) and you can easily clip them with fingernail clippers! :)

That said I'm with you on the "flabby arms" thing - but if you have a Dress Barn near you? They always have a rack of lovely scarves, wraps, and shrugs that go well with formal wear. It's what I opt for! :goodvibes

That said I have to go buy a dress still - I was hoping to lose a couple more pounds first, but I think I'll have to bite the bullet!! :)

Just an idea - we use a white noise machine with my DD - and I've found that if you put it nearer to the door than the window, it pretty much covers any "hallway" noise...
You might consider that if it's a hassle to move! :)
