November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

Tinapomp-

Hope you are hanging in there in that hotel room- wishing you and your family all the best- pixiedust: pixiedust: I'm so glad you were able to bring your cats!!

A big ole EDC :grouphug:

Check in when you all get back on line.

Please know that the rest of the country is praying for your safety & a quick recovery for all of you!

First, still waiting to hear from Tinapomp. Hoping you are OK, and watched the weather channel for awhile last night thinking of you (and my aunt!)

Second, I thought I have posted this, but I can't find all my posts, since this thread is sooooo long!:rotfl2: But, Can I please be part of the FE exchange? If its too late, please tell me, otherwise I only have 40 something days to come up with something good, and have enough of them for the cruise!! Thanks!!

OH, and I just checked DCL, and put in info as if to book a room on our cruise (OK, I'm a dork!) Put in our Category, and there are still a bunch left (Cat.4) so maybe some people could be upgraded since there are Family Verandahs left empty right now!!

You're not a dork at all!!! I think that's the way to "assess the possibilities". Sending our prayers to the Gulf Folks!! Also, I'm in Okinawa Japan (Marine thing) right now and the area west of us (Taiwan) is also getting slammed by a Typhoon. Please include them in your thoughts and prayers. Going shopping today...Guess where some of your FE Gifts are coming from? :scratchin

And Jen, I just need your cabin # to put you on the list-

Glad to have you along! I've added your name to the list of cruisers on page one.

First of all, we call ourselves the "Election Day Castaways" since we'll be sailing over Election Day (remember to cast an absentee ballot!).

We'll be having a chance to meet everyone in our group Saturday afternoon at 3 pm in the Promanade Lounge. Kids, Moms, Dads, Grandparents, and friends are all invited!

You may occasionally see someone post using pirate lingo... Arrrgh, matey! pirate: One of the special nights on the cruise features a pirate night! Raise the Jolly Roger, and make Cap'n Hook walk the plank!

If you have any questions about the cruise, please go ahead and ask! No question is too simple, or complex for this group!

We're glad to have your family along! :cool1: :)

Welcome aboard!

I would give you new ideas & tips but this is my 1st cruise!

And the cruise is a surprise for my kiddos 6 & 8.

Welcome princesspaige!
I just sent you a pm about wristbands if you want some.

:sail: In 7 weeks we'll be in Key West!!! Has anyone tried the Key Lime Pie on a Stick? I remember reading about it a few years ago. Usually I'm too cheap to eat in port since there is so much food on the ship, but I love Key Lime Pie and think I should try some this time.

Just another reminder.....last call for wristbands, I want a final count by Friday and then I'll send out payment info.:sail:

Can I get the final account for the FE group?

Just wanna make sure I have enough survival bags!

It is a staple of the Conch Republic....Best way to eat it is frozen and dipped in chocolate which can be found right on Duval St. as soon as you step off the ship. IT'S A MUST DO !! There is also a shop on right side of Duval St. next to Emerald International that has the best cookies, they are huge.
For the Rum lovers in our group....a trip down Front St. to the Rum Barrel is a must and of course a real Philly Cheesesteak "wit or wit out" ..on Amoroso Bread...yummmm.
<veterans of the Conch Republic, with many Duval Crawls to her name>

I heard about this place! A native of Philly set up shop in Key West, and serves real cheesesteaks! Wit & wiz (onions & cheese whiz for those unfamiliar with South Philly lingo).

Key West plans: Key lime pie on a stick, Philly cheesesteak, ...oh my, I'm gaining weight just thinking about it!

My brother-in-law had a TIA (mini-stroke) last Sunday. He is doing very well, and still hoping to receive a clean bill of health in time to make the cruise. There a several variables that could affect if this will happen, and he will know quite a bit more after two doctor appointments this week.

It looks probable that he will be ok for the cruise, but possibly unable to fly. My sister's family is prepared to drive to FL. They are thinking they might try to get a room for Friday night at Disney so they can get transportation to Port Canaveral, but if everything is booked that might not work.

Is there parking at the port for cruisers? What hotels are in the area of the port that be an alternative for them? Any ideas on where they might park their car while on the cruise?

They could use your prayers for Bob's overall health, that they won't have to cancel the trip, and won't lose extreme amounts of money. We all purchased the insurance so hopefully if he can't sail, my sister can postpone or cancel due to the medical reason.

Thanks

Lisa

That Philly person would be the one and only Pat Croce.
Here's a pic of us with him...thank god I went before the lap band. :cool1: They have a grouper sandwich there served with Key Lime Aoli that is UNREAL.

Both my parents had a TIA and are doing extremely well. Wish him my best for a speedy recovery.
There is port parking at the cost of $15 a day I was told. We are taking a limo from the Pop Century at a cost of around $170 < DS7 never been in one> so extra special.
Sending good wishes to your family, we would hate to miss them this trip.

Lisacarolr...there are several hotels near the port/Cocoa Beach area. Closest to the port are the Residence Inn, Country Inn & Suites, and the Radisson. Down the road toward Cocoa Beach (still close to the port) you'll find a variety of hotels. You can check out www.cocoabeach.com to find a listing of hotels. Thoughts and prayers for your BIL, and family.

LBIGirl...Too Cool!!!! Your family and Pat Croce! The man is a fanatic! Of course in the background is a basketball game on the tv. Hmmm... Sixers?

You know I can't remember what was on... We were there for the Grand Opening week of the Rum Barrel. Pat used to be my personal trainer back in the late 80's when I was thin and dancing. He used to work out of Northfield, NJ at Tilton Fitness Center and was just a skinny guy with WAY TOO much energy. I was a tennis junkie with a major attitude  who thought racket ball was the same until he wiped by butt across the court in a game I'll never forget or live down.
He's a great guy and I'm thrilled at his success.
