Hi! Is anyone hanging around after the cruise? I think to cope with the post DCL stress we'll fly home on Sunday instead if Saturday, and we'll go to Seaworld (which DH & I LOVED to visit pre-kids, but have not fit into our visits since kids) and this new waterpark, Aquatica, looks AMAZING!!!! Has anyone else looked at it? Some of the waterslides go through tanks of dolphins!

we are going Pre-cruise for a few nights at the POFQ.
We had toyed with the idea of after, but it's Hunting season, and one of the people we are traveling with wants to get home to shoot some things

We are thinking of going home on the Sunday after the cruise. It helps with the letdown of the cruise being over to have an extra day to spend at Disney.

A question about tuxedos....

Do most men wear them, or just a suit on formal night?
Personally I prefer my handsome DH in a tux, but personally he prefers to keep the cash in his suit pocket!

Honestly, I prefer to wear my tux. However, on our last DCL cruise none of the men in our group wanted to wear one, so we all just wore our suits. It was one less thing I had to bring along, and I did like that. This year...the decision hasn't been made yet. We'll just have to wait and see.

O.K. new to forum and never been on Disney Cruiseline. I can tell you it's going to be a long 8mos. waiting. Kids are already bouncing off walls and it will be a long summer.


I hope to meet others from my area going so kids will have "friends" to hang with in the clubs. I am from Manahawkin with 2 boys. I have one in 1st grade at OA and an 8th grader at SRMS.

I was seeing people asking who's coming in early/staying late. I need some advice on this one.

Original plan is:

Fly in on Mischief night/ Oct. 30th. Stay at Pop Century ( which is cheap and WE LOVE IT THERE). Go to MNSSHP on Friday so DS7/DS14 can do the Halloween thing, get limo to ship and off to Paradise for a week. On return we are grabbing a rental car at the port and headed to the inlaws for a few days....well at least the trip starts off fun.

Anyone have a better before hand plan?

Hi LBIGirl! Welcome aboard- I love LBI, too!!! Did you see that there is another family on the cruise from Manahawkin? Anyway, your plan sounds similar to alot of ours on the board- going down a day or 2 early and trick or treating at MNSSHP- my family is flying down early on Halloween and staying at AKV. I think we're going to take the bus to the cruise- honestly, after all these years of being so envious of all the people riding on that bus, I want to be one of them!! After the cruise, I think we'll check out Aquatica and Seaworld, and fly home on Sunday. I'm sure even visiting the inlaws will be good too- better than flying right home, right?

I was just talking to someone who was at MNSSHP on Halloween a couple of years ago- she said there were long lines for candy- you know, wait 20 minutes and get a dumdum pop. But she also said it was not super crowded, and it was SOOOOOOOO much fun to see the park and all the characters dressed in their costumes. I'm wondering now about trick or treating in DTD- and going to MNSSHP after- or just buying a bag of candy for them!!

I just booked our 1st excursion- in Grand Cayman- it's called the outrage stingray city tour (not thru DCL, obviously) and I'm very psyched!!
In Key West I think we might get an electric car (they are really cool) and drive around & have lunch at Margaritaville (they have the world's BEST calamari there!). We might take the kids back to the clubs and DH and I can go to Sloppy Joes, or who knows. In Cozumel DS9 & DS11 really want to go play at Paradise Beach. What are everyone else's thoughts on excursions?

We have only decided on a few excursions so far. Key West is a usual annual trip for us, so visiting it will be nothing new. Most likely we'll head over to the Rum Barrel for lunch. If you've never been to Philly, they have the closest thing to a traditional Cheesesteak you'll ever eat. Pat Croce even has the Amoroso bread flown down. Just make sure you get your lingo down before ordering it. You want a steak "wit" (onions) or "witout", with "wiz" (Cheesewiz). Any other way, you might as well eat Steakums. The Pirate Museum next door is adorable too. Don't do the excursion off the boat for it's just as easy to get off ship and walk down Front St. to it...takes 10min. I'll probably hit Coach on Duval ( much to DH's dismay)
The electric cars are adorable and we did that one year but when ships are in Duval St. is so crowded, you can not move to enjoy it.

Grand Caymon is definitely the Turtle Farm trip, for DS14 is a Marine Biologist in the making specializing in sea turtles. A must trip no matter what.

I really wanted to do the dune buggy thing, he would have loved it, but again, says you have to be 10yrs old. Anyone know if they really stick to those age limits?

I believe they do keep to the age limits on the Disney excursions, I just read on these boards in several places that they are strict because of legal issues.

We were thinking of making our own by using the magnetic sheets you can find at Michael's or ACMoore. We're going with a pirate theme, being I am outnumbered by 3:1 ratio.
I'm gonna try and come up with some cute names for the boys such as:

Capt. Brushstroke for DH - he's a painting contractor
Capt. Kickurbutt for DS14 - Black Belt in Karate
Lord Redfish for DS7 - Red headed swimmer and too young to be a Capt. yet.

I am of course the Bar Wench in charge of organizing the entire trip, so I am naming myself: Lady Daquiri - of course for the drink that will get me through this trip sanely.

Anyone have better suggestions, I am at your disposal...

No suggestions - but what room are you going to be in, again, Lady Daquiri? and how much liquor are you bringing? I'm traveling with a two year old. It's going to be an interesting trip.

Yes, the candy lines at MNSSHP are long - but they move quickly and usually hand out more than one thing. We only stood in line a few times - and managed to come home with more candy than we could eat. To make it even "sweeter", the Hershey people were outside the park "topping you off" and our bags were overflowing.

BTW, watch for kids who look green on the transportation and step away from the about to blow kids! All that excitement, candy and rides makes a lot of the tykes hurl chunks.
