November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

I love that we know when we are cruising again... But these almost 2 year waits are TOURTURE!!!
The weather has been so nasty this week that all I want to do is find a comfy lounge chair on deck 4 and read my book... Maybe head to the rainforest room and nap in one of the tile lounge chairs....

...or soak in the hot tub while I watch the sunrise...or sunset...maybe both!

Hope all the Election Day Castaways enjoyed Super Tuesday!!!! Received several political phone calls and now I'm glad we'll be away for the pre-election day crunch.

At least cruisin the boards keeps the DCL feeling going until we board the ship again.

Of course it was nearly 70 degrees on this February day in South Jersey. Quite balmy for Winter in the Northeast.

So, my cruise topic of the moment is breakfast.
Favorites or recommendations anyone???

Ah yes...breakfast!

I like to start off the morning early. Being an early riser I tend to check out the coffee and danish/croissants near the deck 9 drink station at around 6 a.m. After a date with the hot tub, laps in the quiet cove pool, followed by more time in the hot tub I've been known to visit Lumiere's for eggs benedict. Next it's time to return to our stateroom where my family is just getting awake. When everyone's ready we'll go as a family to Topsiders for...breakfast! It's nice to top off my earlier breakfasts with some fruit yogurt...or maybe a Mickey waffle!:lmao:

BTW...has anyone seen the pictures of the French Toast/Pineapple Tower from Lumiere's?

DH and I usually try to do a trip or two to the buffet during the week, as well as a couple of breakfasts in the dining room. DH loves the omlet staton at the buffet, and I do adore mickey waffles!
We also order room service during the week. Even though they don't have a full breakfast offering, its enough to get us through until lunch, and we can eat in our pj's.

Those breakfasts (eggs benedict and the french toast/pineapple tower) look WONDERFUL. I was not finding breakfasts of that caliber on the Wonder. Don't know what I was doing wrong, but I ended up with runny scrambled eggs or really bad omlette's at every turn. I'll have to do more homework to check the breakfast menu's so that doesn't happen again.

Finally found some corned beef hash at the BBB and I did enjoy the chocolate croisants, but after the third day they got a little tired.

Thanks for the link to the pictures, Plutospup.

I'm heading to Lumiere's for breatfast for sure!!!

Hey Everyone! Well I am sitting here at work and it is snowing! Oh how I wish I was at CC right now with a drink in my hand! I am so ready for summer! :beach: :beach: :beach:

It's snowing here, too...and piling up fast! Oh how I'd love to be on the Magic right now. After work we're headed to DD10's swim team practice. It's not the Caribbean, but it will be hot and humid!

Does anyone know what Wii games are played at Ocean Quest? DD wants to know

I'm rescuing us from page 3!

I hope y'all had a fabulous Valentine's day :) Even though DH is up in Mass working... he sent me and DD roses. What a schweetie-pie!

All I can say is thank the heavens it's Friday!! We've been home from WDW for 2 weeks now... and I'm FINALLY caught up at work. Why does everything hit the fan when you're on vacation? My boss literally said "Hey, how was your vacation. OK... there's a problem.." Ugh...

Our vacation was great!! We took my niece and my in-laws with us (DN is severely handicapped - in a wheelchair) and DN had a great time. We stayed at the BCV... love that walk to Epcot :)

Did some DCL cruise stuff today. Got an outfit for the trip (shopping make me happy:sunny:) and made a payment towards the trip.

Read some of the excursion descriptions for Cozumel - nothing is jumping out at me yet. Any suggestions??:surfweb:

DD & I were thinking of doing the Royal Dolphin Swim in Cozumel. On the other hand, DW was thinking about a spa day on the ship, since there are "port day" discounts at the Vista Spa. Probably the most important thing we will do is buy vanilla. DW is a wonderful baker (cook & Mom, too), and uses vanilla. She likes to bake, I like to eat. It's a happy household!:lmao:

Now that takes me back!! I absolutely loved the Vanilla I bought the last time I was in Mexico.

Gotta put a couple of bottles on my shopping list. Forget about bringing back rum....I want some fantastic vanilla to make some cookies!!!:rotfl:

I was looking at that 4 elements excursion- it looks SO adventurous! A little TOO adventurous for DS9- he doesn't like heights (I really don't either, but I was willing to suck it up-that all just looked SOOO fun!). My boys are dying to do Paradise Beach because of the water trampoline and climbing thing. So, I guess we'll be hitting the beach that day. :beach: Does anyone know of a place nearby that offers authentic Mexican food?

We went skiing in the Blue Mountains in PA this weekend, and had a wonderful time. I was very proud of both my boys, they've only skiied once before, and they did very well. Anyway, this morning at breakfast, i was telling them how on the Disney Cruise they have Mickey Mouse waffles-
sadly, noone seems as excited by that fact (8 1/2 mos before we will eat them) as I do. What kind of kids are these, anyway???!!!:rotfl2:

Whaaaat? What's all this talk about Vanilla? I hate to cook... but love to bake! Fill me in people!!

According to DW the vanilla she buys in Cozumel is "pure vanilla", not the imitation stuff you find in the grocery stores. She says you only use half as much, and the flavoring is much better than the imitation stuff.

Truthfully, all I know is DW said she was starting to run low on pure vanilla, so I suggested that we needed to go to Cozumel to pick up some. She finally agreed.
I'll use any excuse for a cruise!

A question about tuxedos....

Do most men wear them, or just a suit on formal night?
Personally I prefer my handsome DH in a tux, but personally he prefers to keep the cash in his suit pocket!

Thanks,
E
