November '08 ~ What Do You Mean It's Over? Should we plan another???

Back in the early 70's I went to Disney world with my family as a young boy. It was me, mom, dad, my 2 brothers and my sister. We stayed at the Polynesian Village now the Polynesian. We had a picture taken by a totem pole in the courtyard all wearing matching Disney sweatshirts. That photo has always been a family favorite (especially to my father). Now over 30 years later we are all going back to the Polynesian the first week of November. We have a few additions to our cast there are now 3 wives and 4 young children (all first timers). We are can't wait for our new family photo with our new family members. I can't help but think we will be back here together again in another 30 years with a whole new group of cast members. Disney is more than a resort it is a tradition.

Chill

That's a nice story, you should have the before pic and after side by side. Were there any other trips inbetween?

We are celebrating our first Thanksgiving and first trip of my toddler....see you there from Nov 22-27!!!! Wuhuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!:cool1: Staying at the Movies

:welcome::dance3:

Sign me up! This will be our first trip to the World. Right now, planning for Oct.31-Nov.5. Still so much to do.......I love it!

:welcome:

I just realized in exactly 8 months we will be in Disney World!:cool1:

You are so like me. I have to post something everyday so I can see the new number in my ticker.:yay:

Now I am spending more time on this boards......3 years ago we were doing the same of planning our family trip and celebrating our princess 5th B-day now we are planning our baby 3rd B-day at MK with his first visit....we can't wait!!!....

I also went with the family as young teen but by then I was too cool for school.

I did not go again until last year Jan 30th to Feb 3rd 2007. I went with my girlfriend and returned home with my fiancee! I proposed to her in the front seat of the Rockin' Roller coaster just before we were shot down the track! We met on match.com, and oddly enough on our very first date we were at a Starbucks and we were talking about how we both loved Disney. A few minutes or maybe an hour later I looked down on the floor and there was a small gold Mickey Mouse ring. I slipped it on her finger and jokingly asked her to marry me. A year later to that day I slipped a diamond ring on her finger on the Rockin' Roller coaster.

Our next trip was the last weekend in April 2007. I told her that I got a great deal on a trip to Tampa. We left late Friday and landed at Tampa airport around 8:30 pm. She had worked all day so as I had hoped she fell asleep in the rental car soon after I started driving. Instead of a cheap motel in Tampa I headed to the French Quarter in Disney World. She woke up as I was getting out of the car at the hotel lobby. She look confused and I did not say anything to her, I just walk back to the car trunk. Soon she got out of the car just as a CM was approaching. She asked the CM "where am I?" the CM replied "You're in Disney World!" The look on her face was all I hoped for and more! It was so hard not to tell her we were headed for Disney I ended up telling her entire family (I was so excited I had to tell someone) and they all kept my secret.

We were married on Hilton Head Island in May 2007. The first 2 days we were on the Island we stayed at the HH DVC. It was great we loved it. Our families came down and we spent the week all together (16 of us) in a beach house. At the end of the week it was back to Disney for the Honeymoon. We stayed at the contemporary with a magic kingdom view!! We never closed the curtains!

We love Disney!!

I was just wondering if any of you are planning on going to waterparks? I know we are going in November, but I have read that it is warm enough.

I just read on one thread that they are going to be closing a waterpark down for refurb in October through the end of the year. I am disappointed about this.

We are going the second week in November and because of the weather, we have agreed to not worry about the waterparks. What little bit of swimming we do will be at the hotel pools.

We did not get the water park option and will just use the Hotel pool. But I bet there will be a few great days to go to the water parks!!!!

Chill

I didn't get the waterpark option because I don't think the kids are ready for it. I don't think they will want to go down any of the big slides. Is anyone going to do Universal Studios? My husband wants to go there for a day. I;m not sure about it.

Beautiful. Just Magical.

We went in nov of 06 and there were some really warm days. I think you just have to play it by ear, cause the week before we were there, they saw snow flakes.

 That would be us. My DH wants to do it too. He did last trip take the boys and I hung out with my daughter and mom and did princess stuff. This year I have to go. I'm just waiting for the park schedules to be released so we can plan that into our trip.

I just took over a fridge swap.:scared1:

Well, it's Monday and it's raining and gloomy here in NW Indiana. I already hate Monday's, so the rain isn't helping! Had a nice weekend, though. My mom and I went to her best friend's daughter's baby shower. That was fun. My daughter went almost all weekend without any potty accidents!! We've been trying to potty train her for over two years...I've almost given up.

My weekend went by WAY too fast though, how about everyone else? I need to get into planning mode for our November trip!!!! And that involves doing some excercise so that I can get back into some "skinny" clothes. UGH! Wish me luck!! :goodvibes

I am getting the waterpark option. It makes for a very nice midday break. The temps are usually high 70s-80 so I think it will be plenty warm in the FL sun.

I'm going to try and have an easy week. Catch up on some housework. No big planning. My DD1 & her fiance are just recovering from the flu. I did a lot of cleaning and laundry. :laundy:

The only thing I really need to get my family moving on is dining reservations. DD2 picked 2 places that we've been to before that she wants to go to again but we need 5 more places. DH says he will let me choose. What a help.

Here in North Alabama the temp is wonderful, but its terribly windy outside. The mail lady pulled into the drive way to deliver a package and after going outside to get it a big gust of wind came and blew the mail she had sorted on her dashboard ... Thankfully I have a wonderful maillady and she just laughed and said thats why she was running an hour behind...:)

Hope your DD and her fiance get completely well soon. The flu has been horrible this year.

Yeah, DH isn't much help on pick places to eat here either. Probably because him and DD are the only nonpicky eaters so he figures he will eat where ever I decide. We are letting each of our three children pick a character meal though, then I will be picking the rest of the TSmeals.

We aren't getting the waterpark option for a few reasons. One because Dh had an accident at work about 8 1/2 years ago and he had to have his toes on his right foot amputated so he doesn't like going to water parks because he would still need to wear his tennie shoes or water shoes and water shoes don't have enough support so it would make for a very grumpy DH...Two because uo until last summer mu youngest hated all things water and was terrified of the pools. And he is now comfortable with swimming in pools if its not too crowded. And I just don't want him to completely freak out of there is even the least bit of crowd...Thirdly, my kids will have fun swimming in the reort pools. My DD should have been a mermaid and if she is in the water she is happy. So the reort pool will be enough water for us.

heehee, look, my ticker says 7 months. When I first got one it was like 13 months away :) WOOHOO!!!!!!!

The planning I have been doing lately is to write down all the info that I asked in threads or read in threads. Also, I am going through my subscription list and writing down the answers to my questions and any info I didn't know from those threads.

I have about 20 pages of notes. Then I am going to organize it. That way when May comes I will be ready to make my actual daily schedule and ADRs. Some of this info I will also take with me to Disney.

We're not sure if we're getting the water park option on our passes. We did the last time and never used them. :sad2: I guess this time it depends on the weather AND if we can lose the weight we've been trying to lose. Believe me, none of you want to see either of us in a bathing suit! *I* don't even want to see myself in a bathing suit!!! I think I'm going to get back over to the W.I.S.H. thread and get some moral support there...I KNOW I'll feel so good about losing weight, it's just so hard to resist CHOCOLATE, though! :rotfl:
