November '08 ~ What Do You Mean It's Over? Should we plan another???

I am going to start looking at restaurants over the next couple of months, any one have some recommendations??

Based on my recent trip, I would recommend the following, in order:

California Grill
Yauchtsman
Jiko
Brown Derby
Flying Fish (higher if not for ambience issues)
Le Cellier

And Kona for breakfast (though not dinner, in my opinion).
I also thought the food at Beaches and Cream was good, and more importantly, the milkshakes were fantastic.
Some of these I've reviewed briefly on the restaurants board. If you continue to follow my trip report, eventually I'll have reviews (and thus, justifications) of my choices!

We got a foot of snow on Sunday. The kids had a snow day yesterday.

Today they have school and my sub still hasn't been plowed. It's a major route for all the buses.

:sad2:

Yesterday the delivery truck for our new kitchen set got stuck in front of my house.

One more day has passed. We are 1 more day closer to Disney!

8 or so inches here on Thursday, then 8.7 on Sunday. Plus ice, so it's so much fun to try to dig out! And temperatures in the teens. My girlfriend and I joked that we should move to Disney World.
Oh, and there was more fun. The city dragged its heels on implementing a snow removal plan, finally declared it yesterday morning for 8 AM today, then moved it up 12 hours yesterday afternoon. A lot of people didn't know it had been changed (including myself, though thankfully I am parked in Washington Park, a safe area), and I watched at least a dozen cars get towed last night. Those residents woke up prepared to move their cars from the side of the street set to be plowed or to drive them to work, and they weren't there.
Accordingly, today there is a storm of a decidedly different substance.

Jill - I will give you a nudge when I hear about the tickets ;)

We hope to do the first MVMCP if we catch it in time, for our trip in 2006 we managed to do bothe MNSSHP and MVMCP in one trip and I am *hoping* we can do that again :teeth:

Monica - When we did it in 2006 I am sure we missed loads we left early because my DS was only 11 months old. I hope perhaps we can stay a little later this year will depend on DS though :) I loved the snow on Main street too and the hot chocolate and cookies ;)

Jo - we usually have a rental car - haven't booked it yet though. I must say it spends a lot of the time parked LOL!!!

It is nippy here in the UK today :cold:

Last year my then 2 yr old DD lasted as long as we did.

My DH is craving the pot roast at 50's Prime Time Cafe at the Studios.

1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian) was my family's favorite dinner and definitely Kona's (Polynesian) for breakfast. Tonga Toast. That's all I have to say about that.

Hi everyone! I'm just sitting here catching up on the posts on this thread. I hope everyone survived all the snow and ice with no problems or accidents.

My husband works for the Public Works department here and he was out plowing all weekend long. He's had this job for 13 years now and I STILL don't have a snow blower! :sad2: So, as he's out plowing I'm shoveling the driveway. I often wonder what goes through my neighbors minds that don't know where he works...they must think he's horrible to make his wife shovel the entire driveway! :rotfl2: Maybe with his overtime this year we'll FINALLY invest in a snow blower!

Anyway, are you all ready for Christmas? I am...all I have to do now is bake! And I love to bake!

LESS THAN 12 MONTHS TILL DISNEY!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!

We would love some snow for christmas here in the uk please.:thumbsup2
I guess everyone in the states is fed up with it now. I must say that you all know what to do when it snows and so does your local councils,
here in the uk everything just stops working and nobody seems to know what to do so the country grains to a halt most of the time:laughing:

Have a safe day everyone:banana:

Just thought i have better mention its 11months, 1week, &1day till i get to kiss Goofy

It sure is quiet over here.

One less day on my ticker.

I have to look over menus and price what I think we'd eat to see if the dinning plan is still worth us using. I have read many conflicting views so I have to see for myself.

This entails planning out all the places I hope we get ADR's for. I don't mind, I just want to be prepared and I need to know if there is still a savings with the plan.

HI!

We leave tomorrow for Christmas with the family in SC! Very busy packing, organising, cleaning. You know how vacations are.

As to the DDP, we don't like it.
We figured out after using it once that we can eat cheaper (crazy, I know) by paying OOP. DD will be 13 next year and is considered an adult, and she just doesn't eat enough to justify the price they charge her. Our youngest is super picky and sometimes only will eat crackers, so we have to sometimes go find a place where she will eat something off property. She has Sensory Integration Disorder and it is manifested through oral and auditory. So, going out of town is a bit of a hassle at times.

So long story short, we don't do the plan.

I am excited about starting to look at ADR"s and where we want to eat. We can all figure it out and then post where we get them to see if anyone's matches up.

Have a great Christmas everyone. I will check back in at some point in our vacation to see how everyone is!

Cheers!

Jo

:wave2: Bye Jo have a great holiday with the family:wave2:
:santa: :santa: Happy Christmas:santa: :santa:

Have a great time with your family Jo.

I'd love to see where everyone's plans take them and hopefully some will match up!

I hope to go to 1900 Park Fare, 50's prime time, Chef Mickey's, Hoop Dee Doo, Cape May, Le Cellier, Sing and Dine at Hollywood and Vine, I might be in trouble here! :rotfl:

Monica we had booked 50's prime time but did'nt have dinner because it was'nt what we thought it was going to be. I know others have said that it's ok.
We don't really do the pre booking of restaurants because we are a bit like the weather very changeable
We have been thinking about checking out the gaylord palms for a meal because we would like to see the ice displays. So our way of thinking is while we are there looking we might as well have something to eat , (kill 2 birds with one stone).:goodvibes

Goofy: I can understand that way of thinking. In 2003 that was us cause we weren't in the know with ADR's. Got lucky though, we pretty much were able to get seated.

I was tellilng DH last night, I'd love to eat at some of the other resorts just so we can see what they are all about. So I was looking at the menu's at some of the resorts.

I have a son with Major food allergies and I have to see if we CAN eat at certain places. He's allergic to eggs and peanuts. The peanut one is deadly.

The chefs are great, I usually call a week before we leave. Then I get to walk around and talk with them before we order to go over what he can and can't have. Some places actually walked over to another restaurant and brought something back and prepared it for him.

I love disney for so many more reasons than just the parks.

Hi Monica
I fully understand the reasons why you need to book the ADR and are very happy with this way.:)
As it's only myself & DH we like to come & go as we please which is easier for us.
This is the way we have always done things .
We don't like to feel tired down to dinner date and times .
Everyone is different in the way we do things.:goodvibes
Good luck in your search with the menu's & hope that you find something lovely to eat for everyone in your family:thumbsup2 .
I would still be intrested in knowing about different places you are thinking of trying as you never know we might change our minds:goodvibes
Jill:santa:

Goofy: Where are you staying?

I want to try Cape May. Never have. The seafood sounds yummy!

We love the Hoop De Doo. My kids can't get enough of their chicken.

We have breakfast last year at Kona's and the Tonga Toast was fabulous.

We will always make a point to have a counter service at Back Lot Express at the Studios since our great experience there. It's kinda involved so see my trip Report.

Monica we have booked to stay off site in a villa at the regal palms resort at the highlands reserve.
We've already booked the flight , villa , attraction tickets, & the pirates dinner show.

Over the christmas holiday we are going to take a closer look on the net at the gaylords palm ice displays because we've heard good things about it .
We like to breakfast at the golden coral thats the only thing we do on a regular basis because my Dh likes it there.:goodvibes

Jill

Is the gaylords palm ice displays only on for a particular time?

Hi Kaylee i'm not sure but will be looking into this after boxing day & will let you know what i can find out:thumbsup2
Have a good christmas
Jill.

I know I'm a day late, but I hope you all had a nice holiday. Our Christmas was fantastic. The kids are all happy and they found out about the upcoming trip. Now I can talk openly and no longer in code.

I'm all excited about planning the trip with them. Last year we kept it a secret and it was awful for me inside. But very worth seeing their excitment when they found out hours before getting on the plan.

So, I'm just thinking about making a countdown chain with them. I just don't know where we'd put one. I guess we can hang it around the house?

Yes, I'm being goofy, but that's why I love him so!

Myself and DW going to visit the world ,Nov 16-21 staying at POFQ>i just hope THE WORLD is done up for christmas at this time.and hopefully MVMCP:santa: :rotfl:
