I was wondering if any of you ladies have had this procedure and if you would recommend it. Also, did your insurance cover your procedure? TIA!

Several years ago I went to the GYN to discuss getting the NovaSure done. I found out that there are many different types of procedures for endrometrial ablation. I ended up doing a cyroablation (freezing ablation). I chose this one because the doc could do it in the office without any anesthesia. The NovaSure had to be done at the hospital or outpatient surgery center.

As far as insurance covering it, the only way you will know is to call your insurance company and ask.

I had this procedure done last March and am so glad I did. I had been miserable and my Gyn recommended I try this. He was a brave man too because I was insisting on a partial hysterectomy, it was that bad. I had the procedure done on a Friday morning, rested the weekend and was back to normal on Monday. The anesthesia makes me a little dizzy, that was the only thing I encountered. I have been much healthier since.

I had Novasure done in March of this year - wonderful experience. I had mine done in a hospital because I was also having a tubal ligation. I only had a little discomfort that first night, after that just minor crampiness (is that a word?). Not sure how much was due to the Novasure and how much was due to the tubal ligation. I had no spotting afterwards, and haven't had a period since.

I had it done earlier this year. Recovery was easy. Had some pain/cramping the day of surgery and some the next day, but after that, I was fine. I do not regret having it done as my health has vastly improved. Only 10% of women who have it done never have a period again (lucky ducks). The other 90% of us still have one, but it's much lighter than before. Mine is so much better. I wish I had the surgery years ago!

And yes, my insurance paid for it.

I am facing this myself. So, here's a question for those of you who have had this done....

I know it slows down/stops periods, but what about the other symptoms? My cramps, headaches, etc, bother me a lot more than the bleeding itself, so I would think this wouldn't help me much. We're still waiting to do tests and get results, but I think my doc is leaning towards this.

Novasure--had it 6 years ago, worked great, love the results, would recommend. And that's all I'm going to say about that. The last time I discussed it the High Poobahs decided that it wasn't a DIS-friendly topic and I got points. (*&#$%^@ censored)

Best thing I've ever done too! No periods at all. Had it done in Feb this year. My insurance did pay for it.

I had this done last year on Christmas Eve morning under general anesthesia in a hospital. So far, I am also in the lucky 10%. My insurance did cover it and the recovery is very quick and easy. Like I said...had it done Christmas Eve morning and was still able to enjoy all our Christmas festivities. I was a little tired from the anesthesia and had some mild cramping the 1st day.

As far as other symptoms...I can always tell when I'm supposed to have my monthly gift from mother nature. Still moody but not as bad, breast tenderness and sometimes mild cramping.

Just make sur your dr. has plenty of successful experience with this procedure.

I had the Novasure procedure done over 2 years ago. It was totally paid for by my insurance and haven't had a period since. I work for an OB/GYN group and this procedure is preformed quite frequently.

I just had this done 4 weeks ago today. Terrible cramps for that day but fine after that. Have not heard from my insurance. Was told it would be fully covered though.

Just got my usual friendly visitor two days ago. Much, much lighter - huge difference. Too early to say anything else.

It was done in my doctor's office - he is certified or whatever it's called for surgeries. There was an anasthesiologist (sp?) and nurse too.

My Dr said it would not help other PMS symptoms; HOWEVER, I noticed I didn't feel as crampy as I did before. Probably because the cramps are designed to rid your body of the lining of the uterus, and I have no lining anymore. However, I do still suffer from the monthly headaches, some breast tenderness, and some crampiness, but nothing that Advil doesn't help.

Had it done a year ago in January in the hospital with a tubal ligation as well. Best thing I ever did, I am also in the 10% but I have heard it is closer to 40% that never get a monthly visitor again.
