My DD (9) had to keep a journal for her 4th grade writer's workshop. She finished it tonight and I thought I'd post it (since mine won't be started for a few more days!)

Disney Cruise Line
2006 11/3-11/11
Disney Magic

Day 1 11/3 -- When we took off you could see land. It looked so cool. You could see all the houses and roads. You could also see 5 things at once. The water looked more like the sky. Right now we're crossing Virginia. When we got to Florida, it was cold, windy and rainy.

Day 2 11/4 -- Today we boarded the ship. When we got to the terminal I couldn't believe my eyes. You could see the ship. It was beautiful. On the front of the ship where it said Disney Magic it had Goofy cleaning the ship! It was funny. When we got on we went in the Mickey pool. I went on the slide 3 times! It was cool. The slide had 2 turns and then splashed water in your face. We decorated our door. Then we went to the sail away party. They had songs like Let's Get it Started, I LOVE ROCK & ROLL and much more. That was the best day ever. Today was warm. The water was rough.

Day 3 11/5 -- We docked into Key West today. I didn't get off the ship though. My friend's mom got me a ring. When you bring it outside it turns blue! After dinner there was a show. Gary Dalano was in the show. He's really funny. This is what he thinks they say in the song The Circle of Life. Pink Pajamas, Penguins on the bottom and Pennsylvania for the beginning. The weather was warm, but windy. We also saw Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest; watched football; went to Improv Games in the Oceaneer Lab; and went to the Girls Chill at the Lab. They had nail polish, tatoos, and tiara making. It was a fun but busy day.

Day 4 11/6 -- Our first sea day! Today we spent the whole day at sea. It wasn't boring at all. First, we played Jackpot Bingo. My mom had 1 number until she got a bingo, and, when you have 1 number left you got to stand. I got to stand for her!!! Unfortunately, she didn't win!! Waaaant Waaant Waaaaaaantttt. After that, we went to the Internet Cafe. We checked to see if the "Lady" Sharks (my softball team) won. It took us forever to find the website. When we got on the website we found out the Lady Sharks didn't play. Then, we went to the gift shop and pin traded. I don't know what pins I got. I went to the arcade after that. I won a little dolphin! When we got back I got dressed for dinner. It was formal night so once we got to deck 3 it was Picture, Picture, Picture!! We ate in Animator's Palate. They put on a little show for us. It was cool. Then we went to the show The Golden Mickeys. It was an award show. All different Disney characters and shows won an award. Today was a sunny, but windy day. It was warm. Today was a good day.

Day 5 11/7 -- Grand Cayman here we come. Today's stop Grand Cayman. We went to the beach. It felt like it was 1,000 degrees Farenheit out. Completely different from New York. The weather was sunny and hot! The water was almost crystal clear. Tonight's show was Twice Charmed. It was a Cinderella story with a twist. There was one more new character but I don't want to spoil it. Today was smooth sailing. I also went to the store my friend's mom got the ring at. I got a dolphin necklace and another ring since the other broke. I also got my hair braided.

Day 6 11/8 -- Hola Amigos! Next stop Cozumel Mexico. Dolphins here I come. Today we're swimming with the dolphins!! First, we went snorkeling. The water wasn't clear at all so you could barely see anything. Then we swam with the dolphins. We got a kiss, hug, foot push and a dorsel pull. When we did the foot push we flew in the air like Superman! Pirate Night! We dressed up as pirates. After dinner my dad and I went up to the pirate deck party. There wasn't a bad moment and it was fun. I saw my friends Cheyanne, Rebecca and Rebecca. It was a late night. We also saw Santa Claus 3 The Escape Clause. I am not saying anthing about it. I am not spoiling it. Adios!

Day 7 11/9 -- Another sea day. I played Jackpot Bingo. Another close game. I also went to a towel folding class. I learned how to make a monkey, dog, swan and elephant. Then I went to Lava Flow in the Lab. We made mini volcanos. We also made them explode. My team's volcano splattered all over the floor. I graduated from the kids club. We had dinner at Animator's Palate. It was also Semi-Formal night. The show was called Disney Dreams. It was about a girl and Peter Pan and all different kinds of Disney movies. The weather was hot. The seas were nice and smooth.

Day 8 11/10 -- Hello Castaway Cay! Today was a beach day. The Flying Dutchman ship from Pirates of the Caribbean was at Castaway Cay! The ship was amazing. I went snorkeling with my Dad. We saw the Mickey statue and lots of clear fish with yellow stripes. We also made a sand castle. The show was Remember the magic. It was all different shows put together. That was the BEST day of vacation.

Day 9 11/11 -- Bye room, Bye ship, Bye pool, Bye terminal. Regular morning, breakfast at Topsiders. Waiting for Happy Limo which is giving us a ten passenger van. Say What? No, No, Noooooo. A SUPER STRETCH HUMMER!! We got a super stretch Hummer for our ride to the airport! Miracles can happen.

Just believe in FAITH, TRUST and PIXIE DUST.

The End.

So there it is...the Disney Magic from a 9 year old's perspective. I'm glad I spent the time to type it out b/c once it goes in her writer's notebook, I don't see it again until June! I'm hoping to start mine in a few days (after all this laundry gets done!)

Linda:

Great journal. Sounds like your daughter had a great cruise. I saw your post (after the fact) on the live thread regarding your husband's sea sickness the first couple of days ... I hope that didn't take away from the cruise experience. It was a pleasure meeting you and other Dis-ers throughout the week. I look forward to reading your's (and hopefully other) trip reports from our sailing and hope to get mine going at some point too.

Linda,

I'm so impressed your daughter found time to jot down a few notes. My kids brought journals, but we forgot about them!!! And by the time we got back from the shows, the kids were exhausted.

I also think I saw your super stretch Hummer.....we had the FLTours commuter van parked in front of the Hummer.

I really need to start on mine. DH posted on Suzy Mouse's thread "Live and now Home on the Magic 11/4" or something like that....

Need to go ransom the dogs out of the kennel, and it's raining! Yuck! This is not the "welcome home" I wanted!

What a great idea...I'll do the same, DS7 did the same thing for school...it's pretty good. :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing and please let your DD know we appreciate it.

She did a great job :thumbsup2 I tried to keep a journel, wrote in it ONE TIME :lmao: NOW, it can't remember very much, everytime I make an entry in my trip report, I have to call a family member to double check myself. :confused3

THanks again.

OMG, that brought tears to my eyes! The "bye room, bye ship" did me in. It sounds like you had a wonderful time and my, what an articulate little writer you have! I'll be looking for her on the best seller's list in a few years!
