Sad Day...Last Day.... Saturday Nov 14.... F& W Parisian Breakfast, Morimoto's Asia, snacks at the Magic Kingdom
We were excited to finally grab a reservation for the Parisian Breakfast! We had tried the last 2 years when we came in October and it was always sold out, but this year we were on top of the day the reservations opened up and got them! I think it was $39 each, and only available on Saturday mornings during F&W. The event starts at 9 am at Chefs de France, so we left the Poly at about 8 am, arrived in EPCOT via monorail by 8:30, and were waiting on the bridge just outside France by the International gateway by 8:45 along with everyone else who was there for the breakfast (and there were a lot of people! Could hardly believe we were all going to fit in the restaurant!). Right about 9 am, a cast member came and took down the rope that was blocking the bridge and the giant mass of people descended on France like we were storming the beaches at Normandy.
Everyone lined up outside to check in as one long line and waiters came out with glasses of Mimosa's to give us as we waited. We met some hilariously funny people as we waited the 15 minutes or so in line and we were hoping we would get to sit with them, but apparently there was already assigned seating. I am not sure why, but I have very few pictures from this event!
I was very impressed how nice and upbeat and friendly all the French cast members were considering this was the morning directly after the terrorist bombings in Paris. Completely professional and we expressed our sympathies to them.
We were seated in the front room in the corner by the front windows on a 4 top. A woman was already seated at the table, and obviously someone else must have been sitting next to her as the plate table setting had been disrupted at that setting. The other 2 chairs had large shopping bags in them.... I guess they thought they would have the table alone? We stood awkwardly there waiting for her to make a move to get her things, but she did not, so I went to move the chair and she suddenly blerted out "No! thats my husbands!".....mmmm, okay.....but I need to sit down..... finally she reluctantly moved her things and we sat, only to find my plate was missing. Mystery solved, here comes her husband with 2 plates full of food from the buffet. Once he arrived we decided to introduce ourselves to our new table mates only to find that they spoke Spanish and the extent of their English was about 20 words the wife knew, and the husband knew about zero. The extent of my Spanish is all food related, or I can deliver a baby in Spanish pretty well (thanks to doing my training in a county hospital!). This made for a pretty quiet and boring event it turns out... too bad Disney can't add a question about your preferred language when you sign up for things like this... I'm sure there were Spanish speakers at other tables and it would have probably made the experience much better for the people at our table as meeting new people and sharing notes is half the fun!
We got up once I got a new plate, and walked to the buffet that seemed to be set up on restaurant tables that had been pushed together.

There were fresh pastries, fresh fruit, croissants, brioche, baguettes, a cheese platter, a charcuterie (ham, salami, ect) platter, Bonne Maman fruit preserves, tomato tartine, a "frangipane" (vanilla like almond paste inside a croissant like triangle), savory pinwheels with cheese and bacon, coffee, hot cocoa, cappachino... very much like a continental breakfast.
This is my plate... I really liked the baguette, butter and cheese the best. The pasty at the top left with chocolate was good, but the rest was just OK and the cheese/egg/bread combo at the bottom of the plate was obviously made well ahead of time and cold and hard.
I really wanted to have a good time here, but I think we just walked into a perfect storm of not goodness... The table was small, and the tables were quite close together, our tablemates obviously were annoyed we were there, the food was just OK, and for some reason, we just decided we wanted out and left by about 1015am. I think we were the first ones to leave as the staff seemed surprised and asked if everything was OK. We got our goodie bags and left. The goodie bags had little jars (2) of strawberry preserves, a postcard, a coupon for the president butter, a vinyl shopping bag with the Bonne Maman logo, a button that said "Real butter lovers love "president", and a small recipe book. Cute, but nothing earth shattering, and now we had bags to carry.
Time to shake it off and just chalk it up to a bad event in an otherwise great trip. Would have been a much better event at a different table, or maybe we just need to try to go with friends in the future! We went through the International gateway and hopped the boat the Hollywood studios... had to ride our favorites one last time! We of course now got there before our fast pass times, so we walked to the Writers Stop for coffee, and then walked to the best bathrooms in the park... right next to Lights, motor, action...35 stalls and no one hardly knows they are there! Use them while you can! Walked over to our favorite rides at Rockin' Roller Coaster and then Tower of Terror, go t a Mickey pretzel and out of DHS by 1245. We were originally going to try to make this a 4 park hopping day and go to Animal Kingdom next, but the parks were just crazy busy, and we didn't get any shopping done at Disney Springs last night, so we thought it might be a good time to head over to Disney Springs now.
Its a little tricky to get to Disney Springs from a park as there are no direct busses, so we stood by the bus stop and watched to see which of the busses to Saratoga Springs, Old Key West or Port Orleans would arrive first and then we would make our way from there. First bus, Saratoga Springs, we are on! We had never been to SS resort, so we were shocked at how large the resort really is...there were 4 stops before we reached the Congress Park stop which is closest to the Market place side, and it was about a 5-7 minute walk from there.
There was one more restaurant we really wanted to hit, and while on the bus we took a chance and used the Open Table App and landed a 2:30 ressie at Morimoto's Asia! Yeah!
Morimoto's Asia: 2:30 ressie- arrived promptly and seated immediately.
Beautiful restaurant with high ceilings and a high class air about it. All the servers remind me of a Robert Palmer video...I had read reviews online and they all said to get the ribs... so we ordered the Spareribs as an appetizer...
I know its kinda gross, but I just had to show the before and after as testimony to the absolute deliciousness of there ribs...this very well might have been the single best dish of the trip. Fall off the bone tender, sweet, sticky and just plain amazing. Run...don't walk to get these ribs! 5++++ Stars
My main dish was Orange Chicken- super citrusy and fresh and OMG delicious- so much food I couldn't finish it and as this was our last day, sadly, I never finished it (though I did have a bite for breakfast the next day). 4 stars.
Evas main dish was a Curry Soup. Noodles, Chicken dumplings. She thought this was really good and delicious... prevalent spice (heat) with undertones of coconut milk. She ate almost all of it. 4 stars.
The rest of the day was shopping and then back to the Poly and finally into the Magic Kingdom about 7:30 pm (We made it to 3 parks and Disney Springs today... not bad). Our intention was to hit the Adventureland rides, and then hit some MK snacks we had on our wish list and thought it would be perfect since the park was open until midnight. What we did not know, is that many of the quick service places actually close at 9pm even with the park open ! We arrived at the Friars Nook looking for the Pot Roast Mac and Cheese at 8:59pm and told they were closed... so we continued on around to Tomorrowland in search of the Cream Cheese stuffed pretzel at the Launching Pad.. got there about 9:05pm and yup, closed (can see the pretzels through the window!). Sad and still hungry... we got to knock one last snack off... we walked to Sleepy Hollow and got the sinful, Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle
MMMM....delicious!! We ate the Waffle and watched Wishes (10pm) from behind the castle... a perfect end to an almost perfect trip...
We leisurely walked up Main Street trying to take in all the sights and sounds to make memories to last until next time. Boat ride back to the Poly to pack and try to rest as our plane was leaving at 9am, and this meant the Magical Express was picking up at about 5:30a... came way to early.
Total Mileage Walked Today: 11.15 miles or 23,453 steps
