After the accounts of the parks being mobbed by APers the few days preceding Thanksgiving, I'm considering changing our trip around a little bit. The Nov. 2010 AP blackout dates show that 3 of them are blocked Thurs-Saturday, so I'm considering swapping our Monday-Wednesday plans for Friday-Mon (we are doing Knotts on Thanksgiving because that's my dad's "thing").

I'd consider skipping Nov. all together and going in December instead, but the rest of my family wouldn't be able to make it and it would just be DH and I and 3 kids. Not quite as fun as it would be w/ everyone...

suggestions?

I dont know that this will help you but we went the 8th-14th this year and it was great, the final day we were there the Christmas decorations were up and it was a bit more crowded that day but the rest of the time it was pretty empty, we are hoping to go the 1st-8th this year since our APs will expire on the 8th. :sad1:

Early November (around the first week) is nice since the crows are low and there are hardly any lines.

I think I read the week before Thanksgiving was pretty nice too? But if you want to go right around Thanksgiving, I think your new plan is almost certainly the way to go. Even if the economy picks up some by November 2010, I think crowds will almost certainly still be higher on non-blockout dates that week than on blockout dates, at least in 2010.

(A lot of kids have the whole week of Thanksgiving off so I believe that whole week has been busy for at least a few years now...now many of those peopl have been pushed to non-blockout dates.)
