Rejoining the thread....it's been a roller coaster of a summer. DH was interviewing for a new job this spring...didn't get it....and then a few weeks later lost the job he had. The cruise was paid for at that point, but we couldn't really commit to going with so much uncertainty surrounding us.
Things are still uneasy, but we are doing alright, and really need this vacation. The only thing that will hold us back is if DH finds a new job between now and then and can't take the time off, in which case we will reschedule at some point in the future. Thank goodness I bought vacation insurance.
I will get the roll call up to date. Sorry I've been neglecting it.
In case everyone hasn't heard, Remy brunch is available for online booking now on both sea days!
Seven weeks and counting!
I think the last month is the hardest...we do have Halloween to look forward to before we sail (great timing to pick up pirate outfits Nov. 1st).
Hope the time flies until Nov. 10th!
How are things going? Not too much activity on this post. Are you still doing the roll call? Let us know what is going on with your DH and his job.
Not really anything to report really, but thanks for asking.Jobs are very few and far between in Nevada, so we are accepting the fact that this is the status quo for as long as it takes. Our lifestyle is changing, but I have faith in God that we will be okay.
We are still going on the cruise, and I expect that I will get A LOT of criticism for it from friends and family under the circumstances. But, the cruise fare was paid for before any of this happened, and I've been able to save about $4000 dollars of out of pocket costs by booking flights with reward points, accumulating Disney Visa rewards, and taking advantage of other perks, rebates, coupon codes, etc. The only expenses I expect to incur going forward are for the precruise hotel/meals and rental car (thank you DIS members for the amazing car rental coupon codes).
Maybe all of that is too much information to be sharing, but believe me, prior to the PIF date, I had been back and forth arguing with myself over whether or not we should still go. My kids' school calendar is being radically modified back to a more traditional calendar next year, and the luxury of vacationing during off-peak less expensive times will be a thing of the past. It's a "now or never" thing. And honestly, I have been working so hard the past few months. I need a vacation like I've never needed one before.
Roll call has been corrected and updated in the first post. If I've missed anyone or made errors, please let me know. I don't receive notifications each and every time someone posts to the thread, so please be patient with me if it takes a few days for info to be added.
If friends and family criticize you for your decision to still go on the cruise, try to ignore them. My grandpa always used to say "Make the memories while you can. If you don't, you will look back later in life at the missed opportunities and regret it." You deserve this cruise!!!![]()
I also agree, you never know what will happen tomorrow and where you had already paid for it, enjoy. Not really anything to report really, but thanks for asking.Jobs are very few and far between in Nevada, so we are accepting the fact that this is the status quo for as long as it takes. Hi folks!
My DH (Louie ) and I (Amy) just booked a spot on this cruise to celebrate my DH's return from an 8 month deployment and our 4th wedding anniversary, and we're both crazy excited about it!![]()
This is our first Disney cruise. Can't wait for the magic to begin!
One question for you... We booked one of the VGT rooms and don't have our room # yet. Can we still sign up for the FE?
Cheers,
Amy
You can join FE, no problem! We'll meet onboard on the first day to update exchange room numbers. Read back a page or two, I think it will be at 3pm.
Sea bands, ginger, bonine, dramamine or something else? What works for you?
Since I need to get my post count to 10 to PM, I thought I'd be Posty McPostypants and ask a question!
Is anyone here contemplating doing the Chaccoben Mayan Ruin tour with Native Choice for Costa Maya? I've read a TON of good reviews about them on the DIS, and wondered if any of you might be going.
