Nov.1 2009 on the Wonder! it's never too early to chat!the

Welcome Jeanette! Glad your joining us. I'm Kim and I'll be sailing with dh (Kevin), my mom (Linda), and my 4 girls Ashley 16yo, Julianna 7yo, Marinah 3yo, and Delaney 1 1/2yo (those are cruise date ages). We're doing the parks 10/25th till the cruise but heading home right after the cruise. I'm hoping to get the 16yo back for school on Friday since she is already missing so much. I think I'll be doing :laundy: on the night of the 31st so we'll probably do our Halloween party on an earlier date.

I'm still on board. I just bought my tickets today for the MNSSHP for Oct 31st. We are going to be so tired from being up so late the night before the cruise. I just can't wait. I am so looking forward to this trip. We will be taking the DME to the ship so it looks like we won't be getting to the ship until 1 ish. This is my first Disney cruise and DH's first cruise ever. It is also our first trip with no kids (with exception to a 2 day weekend to a B&B a couple hours from home a few years ago). Our friends and family think we are nuts for wanting to spend our time alone with no kids at Disney. They just don't understand and they don't have the love for Disney that we do. Oh well their loss.
I have a couple questions?? 1. How do you make the magnets for the doors and 2. What is Fe?

Hey miniemouses, glad to see you are still on board. This board is slow moving but I'm certain it will pick up closer to the cruise date! I'd LOVE to help you with magnets! I've already made a TON! This will be our second cruise and I never knew about the magnets till I found the Dis boards a few months ago!
On the cruise lines board there is a thread called "Cruise magnets and graphics links", thats where I've gotten most of my disigns from. So basically you find a design or graphic you like, copy and paste it to a file on your computer. You can use either magnetic paper to print them out on, or use regular paper or cardstock, and laminate them then stick magnets on the back to adhere to the stateroom doors. I've done it both ways, though I'm waiting to borrow my friends laminator or find the sticky laminating sheets that you don't need the machine for. Come visit us over at that magnet thread. If there is a particular item you are looking for, someone will find it for you. If you want a design personalized for you, just request it!
As for FE'S. Those are Fish Extenders. Outside the Disney staterooms doors, there is a Puter? Fish hook on the wall. This hook is for notes ect that DCL or others might want to get to you. Fish Extenders are Pocketed wall hangings that you hang from the fish hook. Then here on the cruise meets board, people can sign on for a Fish Extender Gift exchange. What gifts you put in others Fish extenders is entirely up to you. Some people make things like photo frams, note pad holders, small disney calendars or magnets, others put in candy, or neat dollar store type items (lots of disney related stuff lately in the dollarama stores). If we organize an FE gift exchange for our cruise, everyone would know of how many children and adults are participating. It can be arranged any way we all agree to. From other boards, I hear it's tons of fun! If we did one, it would probably be a small group, and I think thats perfect. Let me know if you are interested!

Thanks for mentioning the MNSSHP tickets, I MUST contact my TA to purchase those for us! How much were they? I wonder if the prices have gone up from last year and if there is a discount buying them this early for a premium date (Oct. 31st)?

Thank you for all the info on how to make the magnets and the info on what Fe’s are. I will defiantly check out the Cruise magnet thread. I would also like to personalize the magnets if I make them so that I can have them for my memory box with the other things we will be collecting for our 15th Wedding Anniversary as keepsakes. I don’t know if I will do the Fish extender on this cruise since it will only be me and my husband this time. Maybe when we bring the kids on the next cruise we will participate. I think my girls would really enjoy it. I have one other question. After reading everyone’s posts you sort of feel like you kind of know them in a way. I think it would be really nice to meet the people you have been talking with over the months leading up to the trip even if it is just to say “hi” and introduce yourself. With the ship being so big and with so many people on the ship how would you go about meeting everyone that you have been posting back and forth with?
As for the MNSSHP I paid $140.32 for two tickets for ages 10yrs and older.

Hi Jeanette! I'm Sheryl and we are also from NJ (Middletown/Red Bank). It is our first Disney Cruise. It will be myself, DH, DS (10), DS (7) and DD (5). We'll be at the MNSSHP on the 31st also and then we are going back to the parks for 5 nights after the cruise.

I have not been on-line much since the arrival of our new bub. Now he is sleeping through and I am no longer sleep deprived, I am getting back into planning our holiday.

We are travelling from Australia. It will be me, DH, DD (4), DS (3) and DS (will be 9 months).

We are staying at Windsor Hills for the 2 weeks before the cruise, then have a week in Anaheim before flying back home. This is going to be one big Disney holiday. Unfortunaely DH does not share my love of Disney, but I am sure he will cope.

We are looking forward to Halloween, as we don't celebrate that here. I don't think we will be doing MNSSHP though as our kids are too young.

Hi Jade +3. Congratulations on your new baby! Wow what a holiday you are in for! I'm sure it will be very memorable!

I haven't posted for a long time on this thread. I'm so looking forward to our Land/Sea Disneymoon. It can't come soon enough. We're arriving a day early on the 28th. This way we can settle in and be ready for the parks first thing on the 29th.

It looks like everyone is planning and I missed some of the shore excursion talk. We are looking at possibly doing the Blue Lagoon Sea Lion Encounter (did the dolphin one in 05 and loved it) and the walking/kayaking tour at CC.

Almost 4 months to go. :yay:

Hi Kim!

Welcome to the cruise thread! I have 2 boys - 7 & 10, and a 5 year old daughter. It's been a quiet thread, but I'm hoping we get more active as the cruise gets closer!

There hasn't been a fish extender exchange organized, but I would probably participate if there was one.

Sheryl

Hi Kim! I'm Kim also. Dh (Kevin) and I will be traveling with our 4 girls Ashley 16yo, Julianna turning 7 on 11/2, Marinah 3yo, and Delaney 1yo. My mom is also coming along Yay! Maybe we should make a post and list all the kids and what clubs they will be in so the kids can see if anyone else is in their group.

Hi again all. EyesforMickey, one of my son's turns 12 in August, nice to know there is now another boy his age who will definatley be on the cruise. Any chance your son would like to connect with a fellow same age cruiser through MSN, facebook or regular email? My son has requested to do that, a "GET TO KNOW YOU" kind of thing pre-cruise.

YES, We will organize an FE gift exchange. I mentioned it a while back but till now there wasn't really any interest. Has anyone done one before? If someone would like to organize it, that would be a start (I'd rather not, but would love to participate).

We are driving down, so our countdown as of today IS......131 Days to go!
I must get busy making our Pirate Costumes!

Mj28 did you say before you are doing the MNSSHP? Sounds like it should be awesome! (I was NOT impressed with ticket prices though)

Who's planning on doing a Palo Brunch? On the Cruise board, it has been mentioned that booking a table for 2 can be difficult, as they seem to be gone within a few minutes of the booking window opening. BUT it is easier to book for 4. Anyone interested in sharing?

Hi all!!!!

Glad to see that the board has some activity!!!

I've never organized a fe exchange, we participated in the first on on the Magic in November. If you want to organize, you can count us in on the exchange.
tjbaggott :
It would be great for the boys to email before the cruise, if you would like you can pm your son's email.

We're going to the mnsshp on 10/31. I agree, very pricey but, really want to go. We went a few years ago and it's really a lot of fun.

Hi guys! Just booked this cruise a couple days ago! This will be our first DC. Our little boy will be 3 and it will be our anniversary on the 3rd of Nov. Should be a blast. So much on this site to digest its almost info overload!

We had some folks tell us to wait until he is older to do the Disney Cruise but ever since I showed him the pics and told him about it he keeps talking about going to see "Mickey on the Boat" He is so excited!

We're not planning on doing MNSSHP. It's sounds like a lot of fun, but it's just not going to work out for us. I would rather spend the money on other stuff. We're coming in a day early and was hoping that MNSSHP would fall on that day, but it didn't. Maybe we will head over to the Poly Beach and watch Halowishes one night.

I'm getting so excited. Almost 4 months to go. Yesterday it was 4 months to my wedding. Time is flying, but I can't wait. :goodvibes

Hi Kim & Sheryl!!!!

Sheryl, I have a 9 year old Boy, we're from NJ too. I'm hoping the board gets busier too. I'm sure that as it gets closer to the cruise things will pick up.
We can't wait.

Kim

Ok, I've checked with someone else who has organized one of these before, and it doesn't seem as complicated a task as I had imagined. So, I'll step up to the plate and be the organizer (but will depend on participants to help out with ideas I might miss).

So to participate, pm me your info ie: number in your party, boy/girl, ages for children and number of adults. Closer to our cruise date we'll get cabin numbers. Does anyone know what we do if any of us get upgraded at the port? How do we notify everyone of the room change? Right now thats the only thing that puzzles me. The FE exchange is open to anyone who wants to participate regardless of weather they have children or not. Each person decides how they want to gift others ie: one per cabin, children only, one for everyone in the cabin including adults, or adults only. I myself will be gifting each individual. I think we will have a small group. Gifts can be home made or small purchased items. There is no right or wrong gift, the idea is to have fun, without costing a fortune. Dollar stores are great places to start!
125 days to Go!

LOL, On our first Cruise, our youngest was 3 months shy of turning 3yrs old. He had a BLAST! We always said we'd go back when he was 6 and WOW, we actually are! I think any age child is a perfect age to go, hey it's for the adults too! So here's wishing you a PRE Happy Anniversary! (don't forget to let Disney CM's know that!..... They'll bring you a celebration cake!

I have a 3yo dd who will be on this cruise and I think it's a great age. They may not remember it later but they will enjoy it in the moment and they will have the photographs to enjoy later. Glad to have you aboard.

Thanks for stepping up and doing this! I'm guessing that if someone has their cabin changed, they would have to drop a note in everyone's FEs. If someone else tried to deliver their gifts first, most likely their would not be an FE on the door of the old cabin.
