Nov. 08 AKV - will Kandini be open?

We just joined (today!!!!) and I made our res. for Nov. 08. I booked a 1 bedroom Sav. View. I'm wondering if they will have a section of the new Kandini open. Any ideas?

It's actually called Kidani Village (not Kandini). The last official word we had was that the first phase would open in early 2009. That info was removed from the public DVC website many months ago and we've had no official information since then. Construction is ahead of schedule and there are rumors that they may open the first phase by the end of this year. There have been some hints that a significant part (maybe all?) of Kidani Village will be open by the end of April 2009. But again, I want to emphasize that these are rumors. As a new owner (Welcome home!), you can now join the crowd of other AKV owners anxiously waiting for some official word on when we'll be able to stay in Kidani Village and exactly how much of the resort (rooms, pool? restaurant?) will be open as part of that first phase.

We have asked that question of many folks both at AKL this week and also several DVC guides. Everyone has had the same information "early in 2009". I'm not encouraged that there will be any Kidani rooms open for January.

This could be like the free internet at DVC resorts for members. The DisneyFiles magazine (darn I hate that thing) said to look for more information in the Summer issue. Argh!!! It's getting moved later and later in the year. Bet we'll all hear about it happening soon at the next Members' meeting in December.

We will be there January 1-4 for our first trip "home." Right now we have a 2-bedroom SV, but we're hoping that at least part of Kidani will be open by then and we can get one of the new 1-BRs that sleep the five of us.

Until we hear, we'll be waiting and hoping and wishing and praying.......

All but the value 1 beds in Jambo currently sleep 5 but there is only 1 bathroom.

Yes, we originally had a 1-BR reserved, but when I noticed the 1 bathroom on the floor plan, and the fact that the smaller rooms in Jambo house would make it really cramped to put our DSs in the living room, we changed it to the 2 bedroom. I asked for a standard view 2 BR or a Value 2 BR to save a few points to bank into next year, but they weren't available for the full stay and DW didn't want to have to change rooms on such a short trip.

We are waitlisted for a 2 BR standard view. I am hoping that one will come available at the 7-month window if not before.
