I have been dealing with the timeshare store and I have found that communications is not a very strong point, atleast with the one that I am dealing with. I don't even remember his name. The closing was suppose to be after the 20th, so I assumed that it happened on Monday but I have heard nothing. I spoke to Nancy a week or two ago over a possible over payment but I have heard nothing from the salesman or anyone if the closing did in fact happen. Is this the Norm?? It seems that we always get involved with people who don't respond. Our first agent at Disney for the purchase of our original contract never contacted us for add-ons or specials or anything. I know sometimes it's a blessing and other times it's nerve wracking.

Why not just call the broker and ask?

We had some bumps in our expedited closing as to incorrect contract number on closing documents...didn't think it was productive to point fingers @ any of the principals but, if I hadn't been eager to book a trip it would have taken longer to find the error & get us into the DVC system.

Honest mistakes, especially typos do happen in real estate, bottom line, it's really up to you to monitor the closing process. The TSS always answered my questions in a timely manner:thumbsup2 .

It can take DVC some time to "put you in the system" too, resales go to the bottom of the pile.

I guess I figured that you would atleast be notified when the major steps are complete. I always feel obligated to keep my "customers" informed as to what is happening on individual projects. I guess I expect too much. I did call and found out that it did in fact close. I know it will be a few weeks before I am in the system. Will probably be adding on in the next year or so, and I guess I will re-look at my options at that point. Atleast when you are paying Disney 10,000 or more dollars you know right then and there that everything is done.

I don't think you expected too much at all, I would have expected a call, too. But people are human...things happen, they could have misdialed and left a message on someone elses machine or something. And in this type of situation, it is simple enough to call and check.

It's not the Timeshare Store that's the problem, it's Timeshare Closing Services, a separate entity. They are the ones who handle closing and my biggest complaint in the past with them is the lack of communication during the closing process. They really need to send out an e-mail at the beginning of closing that lists the closing process and what steps need to take place and then inform you when step no. 4, say, had been checked off. My experience also included lost paperwork that they misplaced (happened twice on two different contracts), a delay for paperwork getting to Disney (they told me it had been sent when it had not), plus another long delay once when they had given me the wrong contract number. It took the nice people at MS accounting to straighten that one out for me---I had been in the system for awhile and didn't know it. TCS kind of shrugged their shoulders when I called back to tell them of their error.

Anyway, long story short: Buyer Beware. When you purchase a resale contract YOU get to choose the closing company. Ask around and make sure you are getting what you want since you are footing the bill.

Good luck, hope you close soon. :sunny:

Same here. I finally got action when I told them I would call the sellers myself to find out if they had signed and returned the closing documents. It was taking way too long. I had the seller names and looked up their address/phone number on the internet. I had every intention of calling them, too, but the woman handling our closing beat me to it and called the sellers herself to find out what the holdup was with returning the documents. I know she wouldn't have called if I didn't tell her I was going to call myself. The first answer I got was just that we had to wait for the sellers.

In my one failed attempt, I had the exact opposite experience....

Timeshare Closing Services called to verify everything and kept me informed throughout their involvement, while I had to initiate almost every conversation with TTS.

I understand what you are all saying about the closing company but isn't it the salesman that is getting commission, etc and would be most interested in keeping their customers happy? I guess I expected a transaction similar to real estate, my Mom was involved so I know the time that can be involved. And after all if I was to buy again, it would be the salesman that I went to not the closing company. See our contract was one that we purchased back in the beginning of June and could not close until the end of August because of point usage. that is also where the big gap was and I would have liked to have it filled. Thanks for listening to me. I am just happy that everything went okay and we are official now.

OMG...do I ever agree with you!

We were very lucky that our closing went smoothly, and we were informed by both The TimeShare Store and Timeshare Closing Services. We received our closing papers on 7/31, and sent them back with payment on 8/1. On 8/3 we received an email from Timeshare Closing saying that our papers & payment had been received by them. On 8/4, we got both a phone call & an email from the closing co to say that the contract was closed, and a follow-up email from TTS on 8/11 to say everything was closed, and we should be in the Disney system in about 10 days.

Both the seller and Disney had responded quickly with their papers which made closing quick & easy. I couldn't believe it when we were contacted by Timeshare Closing that everything was complete in that short time frame.

We have bought and sold 4 houses (in AZ and TX). Each time, our realtor has given us the Closing company's number, and asked us to arrange closing times with the agent directly. Each time, once the contract negotiations were over, we dealt more with our closing agent than with our realtor (except for home inspections).

TTS is much the same way....they negotiate for you, and then turn you over to the closing agent. I always assumed that is why I got paperwork from TCS. And, on the flip side...I have had many dealings with Nancy Kirsch at TCS...she is amazingly helpful, and has always been very kind when I have called (okay..."bugged") her about my closings.

If I were you, I would stop trying to deal with TTS, and make friends with Nancy...she's a good friend to have!

I must admit that we had great responses from TSS.

In fact the wife and I received an email just this week congratulating us on our closing and welcoming us to the DVC Family.

Only problem is, we didn't buy from TSS. How would TSS know when our closing was with Disney???? Makes you wonder just how closely these two separate companies work? :stir:

Hey it's probably just TSS monitoring all real estate transactions in the Orlando Area and making sure to welcome home every person who buys real estate from Disney.

If you have questions or a gripe, feel free to send a PM to me. I'll do my best to iron things out. The staff and I really do want and strive to make our customers happy.

Sincerely,

Tom,

No gripe, just thought it was interesting how closely your team is able to work with Disney. It appears to be a great partnership.

You can also feel free to PM at anytime, whether or not you have a gripe.

I want to say I've had great experiences working with TSS. I've bid on 5 contracts of which the first and last were ROFR by Disney. Jerry Sydow at TSS was always available to talk to me and I feel the biggest hold up was Disney's ROFR, anywhere from one week to 30 days. After that, everything went smoothly. I will use them again if I want more points.
