Noticeably thinner, more flexible magic band?

Note that the thinner bands may tend to separate at the large/small perforation... my purple HM band has a hole right at the end of the core band where it meets the extension... more flexing will, over time, cause that hole to enlarge, potentially resulting in unwanted separation of the extra material from the band.

Anyone know exactly when new ones were shipped? I bought some from Shop Disney Parks app that were delivered at the end of December.

Thinking they are old ones, but I can't tell. Staying off site.

Would I be allowed to return them/exchange for newer ones?

Ignore other post. After reading lots of complaints from different sites, I decided to keep the old ones they sent me. Seems to be a good thing!

Glad to see them in the wild. For a little bit these were only in the customize your own MB at Space Mountain. This gives me hope that the purple one will be out soon too!

i would not expect purple to EVER be a free option. They know so many people want them that they can make money off of it.

Also, forgive my ignorance, but is there any significance to the color purple? Or is it just a really popular color just because people like purple?

I don't get the purple thing either. I bought red. Is it because it's the one color that's not available for free to those staying on site?

They are much lighter and thinner. BUT!!!! I put it on and it unsnapped VERY VERY EASILY. The old ones did not. Oh my I bet there will be lots of lost bands.

I am anxious to hear if this is an issue for other people as the new bands roll out. I'm with you, I never had issues with the "old" bands coming undone.

I wish there was a way to tell Disney "YES, I know what I want, just send the band already!" Still waiting till early/mid-March for my new green band.

When I got to a park, I bought a 3 pack of the WDW souvenir magic band sliders and use one as a clip over the ends. However, much less $ to just use small hair elastics. ps I also noticed magic bandits aren't as secure in the new thin bands. They don't snap in to the hole in the band with the same audible snap. Lost one of my hitchhiking ghost bandits last trip. Never lost any when wearing the old, thicker magic band.

Also, if I recall correctly, when Disney first posted pictures of future MBs, they had purple in there. And then it was gone.

Purple has been the #1 request since the beginning. Even in CM poles for what color band would you want purple was at the top of the list. I just like purple that's why I want a purple one. I don't like it enough to pay for it though.

My MB arrived yesterday for my upcoming trip and I immediately noticed this as well. It certainly feels more comfortable on my wrist, but I'm worried it will come off on a ride. Will they replace lost bands or would I have to buy it?

I can't wait to get our two sets of MB for our upcoming summer trip but you can bet I will be buying my purple band first thing when I get there and my BB8 band! I will have 4 bands to switch out over the 7 days!

Good information. I just booked a trip for May and was debating on whether to get a new one or just use the one I have. And I'm hoping purple becomes a choice as well!

This thread convinced me to get a new one as I was going to use my old one from October. The thinner material appeals to me as i have small wrists and the new one could be more comfortable!

There are lots of complaints out there that they fall off easily. Check on-line. People also reporting tons of new ones being turned in to lost and found at Disney. Just an FYI.

Are the "thinner" bands the custom ones that you pay for, or the ones included with your resort stay?

I received some new bands last week, and they're exactly the same as all my bands from the past two years. I've got 23 different bands here, and they all weigh in at 21 grams.

I'm not sure about the custom ones, but the ones I was referring to that I've read have fallen off are the ones they now send to resort guests.

Thin ones out last fall. I bought several bands at Emporium first week of October, all thin.

Here now and purple in all the stores.

I know, but I don't know if it's even a real problem. Could be just people liking to complain about everything.

I really have no idea, and these are my first bands. Pretty sure they are the old ones but not positive.
