Argh, presumptous people make me NUTS!!

Person #1

Lives across the street from me...DD and DS older and younger than DD...all like to play, great. Today we meet them at the park, play til dark, head home in separate cars, arrive in driveways at the same time. Now, DD has been going for about 8 hours here and is wiped. I need to make dinner and get the dogs fed. Then I hear neighbor children coming up the driveway. Girl says "Mom needs to put dinner in the oven so we are coming over to play for a while." Um, NO. Geesh. I have my own stuff to do, DD is ready for a melt down and you weren't invited! So I sent their little selves back across the street. Man alive! Now I get to deal with snotty asides from mother for next couple of days. Argh!

Person #2

Take the doggers to the dog park. The last time I had been to this particular park, you had to bring your own water so I brought H2O and a bowl. Take the girls for a nice run and then come back to gate for water. I noticed the park district had installed a hose, excellent, no more schlepping. Give the girls water, and there is a man with a hysterical sheltie who was "guarding" the fence line, cracked me up. The man says to dog, "Get a drink of water, go drink, get a drink of water" Then I notice he doesn't have a water container, he means mine! Don't get me wrong, all the dogs always share. In fact we joke that everyone else's water tastes better because no dog actually drinks the water the owners bring.

What honked me off was this man thought to bring his own double soy chai nut fillibuster from the coffee place, but couldn't be bothered to look after his dog. I have since seen him a few more times and he does this all the time, so it wasn't a case of forgetting once, he is just lazy.

OK, venting over, I feel better. Have a nice day! :flower:

Was your neighbor sending her kids to play in your house or outside? In our neighborhood the kids all play together in each other's yards all the time so if she was sending them over to play outside it wouldn't have been a big deal but if she was sending them over to play inside I would have been furious. I guess it also depends on whether your DD is actually old enough to play outside alone. You didn't mention her age.

Next time you see Person #2 at the park, tell him, "I'll share my dog dish with you, if I can have a sip of your latte. I'm a bit thirsty." :rotfl:

I bet he'll remember his dog dish. ;)

Oh no, she was sending them to play inside. It was past 5pm and dark. DD is 5 1/2 and is not allowed to play out front unsupervised. I heard them outside a short time later, playing by themselves in the dark, they are 4 and 7, mom was in the house making dinner in the kitchen which faces the backyard. It just cheeses me off that she thought it was fine to pawn them off on me. I am glad that I sent them home because I know it would be a regular occurance had I not.

I like your idea!

Wow, the nerve of some people! I can't believe that she would let kids that young play outside in the dark unsupervised. You definitely did the right thing by sending them home. When my youngest DD was 4 she used to play out front as long as DH or I were with her. There were 4 other girls in our neighborhood that were her age and quite often they would come over to play - with one of their parents. One of the little girls started coming over every Sunday without an adult so we were left to supervise her. We finally figured out that whenever that happened it was the same time that a Patriot's game was on. We knew that her parents were die hard football fans so apparently they were sending her out just so that they could watch the game! Some people are just inconsiderate and self-centered.

My sisters brother-inlaw and sister-in-law sent their kids over to the neighbors all the time.
I know the neighbors pretty well. These are the nicest people you would want to meet.
The inlaws would lock their own kids out of the house so they could "do things" and the kids would end up at the neighbors.
The neighbors fed these kids and even took the daughter to Michigan with them a couple times because the parents did not want to find a sitter for her.

So, we know your pain.

Luckily, I live on a cul-de-sac and their are no other kids around here.
We have to car pool them in, so I have control over it! :teeth:
