Nothing for granted

I work for TSA and occasionally answer questions on a few of these boards. I ran across this news article on Yahoo today.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Airport security workers found a loaded handgun stuffed inside a brown teddy bear that a 10-year-old boy was carrying on a trip home after his family's Florida vacation, authorities said Thursday.

We are constantly being tested to see if there are any holes. Yet another good example as to why we don't take anything for granted. Bears, shoes, canes whatever. Anything "normal"can be made dangerous.
Apparently this bear was a present from another child in the same hotel.

Not sure what the debate is, but this was a pretty disturbing story. I guess anything should be suspect these days.:(

That whole story sounds a little fishy to me. The way it was worded in my newspaper, it sounded like the parents said a strange girl came to their hotel room and asked if they could give their 9 yr old boy a teddy bear.

Why would a complete stranger come to their door to give a kid a teddy bear w/ a gun? Why would a parent accept it, or any gift from a stranger? And how many 9 yr old, almost 10, boy want a teddy bear? Wouldn't you feel something inside the bear?

I really think there is more to this story and they should look deeper into the family involved. Maybe I'm biased since I worked in law enforcement for several years, my DH still does.
