Nothing available for WL 2 br in Dec '08?

I went on the Disney website to price a vacation for Dec. '08 (so I can save along the way) but nothing is coming up for a 2 br at VWL.

Dh said they probably have to wait for the DVC rooms to be released after the DVC members have a chance to book. I am not dismissing his idea (he could very well be right) but I thought a certain amount of rooms were set aside no matter what that were available to CRO for booking non-dvc members at rack rate

Is dh right, or are all the rooms gone already for Dec'08?

I'm no expert, but your hubby may be right. We have a 2-BR at VWL we are heading to in two weeks and did not book it until Jan. 07 through renting DVC points. Just keep trying!

Even DVC owners at the VWL cannot book until 11 months out (at the earliest) so I doubt those rooms would be released this early.

I had a friend who just returned from a Thanksgiving weekend stay in a 2br at VWL. Hers wasn't booked until March, and we were both very surprised that there was even one available at all. WL is extremely popular during the holiday season, so I would check back very often, and if one pops up, grab it, it may not be there the next day.

Since VWL is a sold out DVC resort, nearly all of the rooms belong to members. Disney does retain a small percentage, but these rooms are used for administrative purposes and rented out only if not needed for that purpose.

The lion's share of the rooms available through CRO/WDWTC come from DVC members who use their points for something outside of DVC. DVC then sends the equivalent number of roomnights to CRO/WDWTC to get the $$ to pay for the non-DVC choice.

As already mentioned, the earliest DVC members can book is 11 months prior to check out. No one really knows how Disney/DVC selects the inventory to send to CRO/WDWTC, but in my experience, they never send any prior to 11 months and most CRO/WDWTC cash inventory seems to appear 2-6 months prior to arrival.

You just have to keep looking or calling every so often. There aren't all that many 2 bedroom units VWL sent to CRO/WDWTC with December dates. You might have better luck looking for a DVC member willing to rent you a 2 bedroom for your 2008 dates.

I just tried to get a room at POP for june or july and the system kept telling me there were no rooms available. I tired 4 or 5 different weeks. Is this possible? Perhaps there is some sort of glitch.

December (even early) is a very popular time for DVC'ers....and the VWL is the smallest DVC resort on property making it difficult to get ressies there at busier times of the year.


I thought each DVC had rooms allocated to CRO for reservations though? Owners must wait until the 11 month window opens, but you might try calling CRO to find out about their inventory of rooms and exactly when they become available.
