that holiday inn on hotel plaza blvd in your news piece was operated as a holiday inn BEFORE the hurricane. marriott sold it a couple years before.

I liked that hotel when it was a Courtyard.
stayed there 3 times, once over x-mas. beautifully decorated for the holiday in white lite and silver artificial pine. also loved the atrium glass elevators.

The Orlando Sentinel(where I got the story) said it was a Courtyard when the hurricane hit. Does anyone have a source that I can use to verify or dispute that? I'm happy to change it if I can find the info somewhere. Thanks for the help!

It was originally a Howard Johnson's before anything.

To the OP, just a head's up that you can click on the name of the person that posted the story to send them an email directly, rather than posting it on the board. :thumbsup2

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holiday_Inn_in_the_Walt_Disney_World_Resort i know this is not the best source of material on the web but in this case it gets the job done. BTW didnt mean to step on any toes, it must be hell to have 60,000 fact checkers.

yes, ho jo is where it got that funky orange trim that it always had. that was howard johnsons signature color. all their restaurant roofs were that.

According to all Google searches and a call to Disney, the hotel was a Holiday Inn during the 2004 hurricanes.
