Not your usual CC question!

Is there anyone out there who has chosen NOT to get off the ship at CC? The reason I ask is that we've been there 3 times already and while it definitely is an island paradise, I'm not a beach person! I'm a total flop at snorkeling and (don't laugh!) I really hate having to get rid of the sand which seems to get everywhere! Also (and don't hate me for this) I'm not that keen on BBQ and the lobster burger didn't do it for me! (I'm really not picky - I promise I loved every other thing I ate!)

Last time, I loved parasailing while DH and DD went off on a bike ride (I can't do that either - no sense of balance!) but other than a quick dip in the ocean, I sat under an umberella and thought about my lounger on Deck 10 above Quiet Cove and my bar stool at Signals!

So, my rambling aside, have you stayed onboard on CC day? Was it lonely? Was it too quiet? Will I be the saddest person on the Aug 14th Magic?!?! (Hey, I've checked out Barb and Tony's site and I know Parrot Cay and Signals will be open so I may just have answered my own question - my book and I will OWN the Magic that day!)

Seriously, any opinions welcome xxx

I took my daughter-in-law "to be" on a girl's only cruise last weekend. She and my son are getting married in May, and we both needed a quiet weekend. When we got to CC, we went to the beach from 9-11. As you know, it gets crazy about 11. We went back to the ship and had lunch at Parrot Cay. There were about 10 people eating in there. It was very peaceful! They had all of the same food as CC along with peel and eat shrimp(our fave) salad, and a pasta bar. It was great! We then went to the pool where we had our choice of chairs. I didn't think of it as lonely, but as an entire cruise ship to ourselves! Also, a great time to book a massage ;)

but I just loved getting off the ship first thing in the morning, my family swims like fish (I've never learned to swim and scared to death of the water - although I love cruising - figure that out)
and I just enjoy sitting in my everyday clothing on the beach, under an umbrella, watching people. Around 12 noon we eat lunch, we do love Cookies, but then it is back to the ship.

Hey " TraSee "where is your Cruise report???? It's been slow in the report department and we could use a new one! LOL

thanks

I see nothing wrong with staying on the ship at all! If I didn't have a little guy who would think I lost my mind if we didn't go to the beach...I might consider that as well! :)

I do plan on staying on the ship at Key West

I think you'll find several who feel as you do. Though I love CC (my favorite), I fantasize what it's like to have a good book by a pool & being able to do laundry (before the sad trip home the next day) w/out having to wait for a washer/dryer. It's your vacation, enjoy whatever makes you happy!:D

TraSee - thank you so much for replying! You kinda touched a raw nerve but it's OK! I hope you and your DIL-to-be had a wonderful pre-wedding trip! I wish I could've taken my MIL on something like that but we were broke when we got married! She loved me (and my DH is an only son!) but by the time we could have afforded it, she passed!

Sorry - a digression!

Post more opinions please!

I'm sure you wouldn't be the only person onboard. You may be surprised at the number of people still onboard. If you do, you can take advantage of:

1 - no lines for food at PC
2 - your choice of lounge chairs at Quiet Cove pool
3 - spa reservations
4 - movies in Buena Vista Theatre

Besides, it's YOUR vacation too! Do what you want to do -- no regrets! It's not like you haven't tried CC before. You know what it's like and if you think you may enjoy something else then I say, "Go for it!!!" :)

We overslept on CC day. Got to the beach at 11 am (crowded!!)and left at 1. We went on the cruise just DH and me, no kids. The BBQ lunch was awesome but we were about done with fun in the sun, we went back to the boat, showered and caught a movie.

When we cruise last February the water at Castaway Cay was a little too cool for our tastes (we were coming back in May so it didn't bother us too much). We spent part of the day sitting on the beach reading, ate lunch on the island and then went back to the ship. Since we still had our suits on we went up to the Quiet Cove pool. There were only a few people there and the water was warm and wonderful.

Do what makes you happy!

I agree, do what ever makes you happiest, actually I think a cruise that never stopped at any ports would be just fine I love the ship so-o-o much. It is a perfect time to have the ship all to yourself and relax for one last day. Actually the port days are a bit hectic. (Just my own opinion.) When I'm on vacation I enjoy not having too many things planned. It starts to feel too organized.

I've never considered staying on the ship even after being at CC four times, but that is because I am a beach-water person. But I think it would be cool being on a empty ship and it really doesn't matter what anyone else does, after all you paid for your vacation and you should do whatever makes you happy. So this is one less person who will be there when you enjoy the ship at CC, we are also going on the 14th Magic!

We got off, but were back on by noon. My daughter was suffering from too much sun, too much excitement and too many late nights.

We managed to catch a matinee of Golden Mickey's that day - which was great - the evening shows ran too late for my kids.
