This has a pretty good explainer: http://www.orlandoairports.net/arrive/index.htm

Leave the plane, follow signs to baggage claim (either A or B depending on your airline... the signs will tell you which).
Monorail to 'main terminal', follow signs to either A or B Baggage Claim (remember the signs before the monorail tell you which one you should go to.
Look at overhead monitors to find correct belt (you'll need your flight number/departure city). Wait at belt to collect luggage.

After collecting luggage, follow signs for 'Transportation'. You should find a cab right outside the doors.

If you arrive on Side A, you will leave the gate area, take the tram to the main area of the terminal, and go down to level 2 on Side A. You arrived on level 3. Get your bags at baggage claim, on level 2, and then continue down to level 1, ground transportation. Same thing for Side B arrivals...just stay on Side B.

As far as getting to US/IoA, I would recommend hiring a car service before you go. That way the driver will, most likely, be waiting for you at baggage claim and then help you with the bags. The cost is just about the same as a cab. You might even be able to get a slightly lower price if you book a transfer to WDW from US at the same time.

Thanks for the great info. that helps alot :thumbsup2
