888. This was our second full year with this many points and I was afraid that we might not be able to use them up. I seem to be doing OK.
I think you've got a handle on it. You're doing quite well.

I think my Sept UY is perfectWe would never travel in the summer months, so banking by April 30 gives plenty of time to make our plans.
We didn't know a thing about UY when we bought but I'm very happy.
Yes we are doing VGF in May-June, that's the trip I had to borrow for. That GV was so much fun! It used up 1/3 of my VGC points.
You've got a great UY based on the days you do WDW. Mine isn't the best. It's awesome that you guys stay in the GV. What a treat for you and the band.
That's what I thought. I cannot wait to see the pics from that report. I am looking forward to Pam's too in just a few weeks. I can't even imagine how beautiful the VGF are. One day......
I didn't know anything about UYs either and didn't know to ask. I am more informed now though I think if/when we add on, I'll keep December if possible. Do all your contracts have a Sept UY?

We would do it before dinner. I think the reservation is around 6PM. I will be in a food coma after the dinner.
Perfect. The holiday parade is at 2:30 and 5:30 so we'll plan on the 2:30 unless you'll be to the parks that early and in that case we'll do the 5:30. I may be too ambitious with trying to do the parade and fireworks.
If you're moving Storytellers to breakfast, perhaps we could plan an afternoon meet at the house that afternoon before Michael flies out. I have no idea where we will be at on the house by then, but we can confirm as we get closer.
That sounds great. I have a feeling I'll suck it up and spend the points for a night at the DLH. I can get a standard room for 20 points less than I can a one bedroom villa. Of course a villa is WAY nicer but the DLH is pretty magical and it's only for a night. They sleep 5.
I keep my toiletries in my suitcase too!
Michael does too. You all travel more than I do. Smart.
I think we are doing the boat parade on the 13th. Our realtors invited us on some boat that leaves from a dock behind McKenna's.
Very cool! The actual parade is on the 21st but you can see the lights anytime. I just got off the phone with the boat place and reserved an 8 seater from 4:30-6:30. Sunset is at 4:45 so this way, I can watch the sunset on the water and still have an hour to troll through canal. I cannot wait. :cloud: Let me know how you like it. We've walked through the canal but I've never done the boat though Naples.
A very nice and busy schedule to do. I will be looking forward to your pictures and it will be be very neat to see Chloe pictures as well.
Thank you. She's our budding photographer and loves being in charge. Her eye is very interesting.
Technically no, you aren't borrowing, it's the Dec UY messing with your head. LOL! You think you are borrowing because you are booking it before the points are in your account but that isn't how it works. The points go with the date of the reservation, not when you book it.
You have 85 points coming 12/1. I don't know how big your contract is but if it is more than 85, you have actually already borrowed.![]()
Your trip is after 12/1. That means your trip is in your Dec 13 UY (today is still your Dec 12 UY) You get your points on 12/1 so any trip taken after that, is in that UY. Your trip is taking place in your Dec 13 UY and you are using your Dec 13 points for it, some of that 85. So it's not borrowing, the trip and the points are in the same year. If your trip was today, you'd have to borrow. (Do I sound like the teacher from Charlie Brown yet? LOL!
)
While you get your 85 2013 points on 12/1, any trips booked on 12/1 or later would also be eligible to borrow from your full allotment of 2014 (85 points or whatever your full contract is). If you go and click on the contract page (mymembership/vacationpoints/) then scroll down to where you see all the UY's. 2012 will be expanded as that is what we are currently in. You can click on 2013, 2014, etc to see what is there. So, if your trip cost more than 85 points all told, you'd be borrowing from your 2014 points. Which doesn't show on the member front page but are available to use for a trip taken in your 2013 UY, which yours is. On 12/1 that page will show 2013 and 2014 instead of the 12/13 it shows today. It shows current and future as of the day you look at the page...which may or may not match the trip you are booking.
Our contract is for 170 points so the 20 I just used came from 2013 (the same that shows the 85 now) showed 105 before my waitlist came through. I have 170 available for 2014. I'm in the red.
You are amazing so explaining this to me.

I actually LOVE my Dec UY but it can be really confusing as only one month of it, actually matches what the calendar year says. For 11 months of 2014..we are still in our 2013 UY and it can be confusing. I like it, and picked it on purpose, because the banking date is 7/1. For me that is so much better as I will know summer plans by then and can make the right call.
For a Dec UY, fall trips can be risky as they are after the banking window and you could end up in a holding situation. Thanksgiving trips could be wacky as well as the UY date could fall in the middle of that weekend (it does this year). It is however, perfectly lovely for December trips! I figure we generally travel more, or are more likely to, from Dec-Aug versus fall with the kids so it works best for us.
I'm glad you like it. I think I need to educate myself more and learn how to use my UY to my advantage. You need to do a DVC 101 course for your dense friends.

So did they have the Friday off already? that's cool, E's go all the way through Friday, as do K&T (though it works for our NYE dates, they miss the m/t on the back end instead).
I thought they did but your post made me question myself and I am glad I did. They are NOT off 12/20. This means they'll miss 3 days. For some reason we all thought they had it off, my neighbor included. I am not thrilled with them missing 3 days.....
I really hope you don't have to move, major fingers crossed for it coming through, I'm sure I made someones Easter yesterday releasing that studio!
I am okay either way to be honest. The DLH would be 20 points less and honestly, Disneyland is so small that it makes moving pretty easy. I love the DLH rooms too. The pixiedust headboards are so cool. I'm good with either and am happy we got the GCV for at least a night.
Not hopping makes a TON of sense.
I agree, we just don't have the luxury of time this trip. I am excited to to really dig into the details of each park. I have only breezed through Carsland twice. I'm looking forward to not feeling so hurried. Funny how having two 1 day trips makes me SO grateful for one two day trip.
M's flight is at 6? My only concern is the holidays. I know how fast LGB is but I might vote for 4:30 lol. Which yes, is a bit tight if storytellers is running behind at all. I've not been (and need to look into all this, Evan has requested a "big fancy breakfast" for our last morning) so no idea if they run on time or not.
LBG is only 17 miles from Disneyland and no freeways. I think we'll be good as LGB has never had a line in all of the years I've flown into/out of there but leaving a little earlier is a good idea. We've been to Storyteller's twice and the service and food are both outstanding, nothing like Goofy's Kitchen which seems to be a cluster of sorts.
The boat thing sounds SOOOOO cool! I hope you can get a nice full boat, bring the cost down and enjoy. That would be absolutely magical. Sounds like it might be special to go to mass with your dad, is that weird for the kids at all or something they've done before, or is it best to just have a smaller/shorter 1:1. I can only imagine how tough it all is on everyone but yet, a blessing to see him over the holidays. I'm glad the chicken was such a hit, love that place!
Mass comes to him thank goodness. During our last visit my father tried to AWOL. Because he cannot speak and I have experience with the geropsych population, I am assuming he starts to decompensate once the visit is extended for any period of time and because he has moments of ludicity, he realizes, I cannot take him with me. It is by far the most heartbreaking thing I have had to deal with, aside from Chloe's illnesses. I always leave feeling raw and drained and rendered pretty useless for a good hour after.
We might need to do takeout in April![]()
Don't forget the boysenberry pie, its the pie ever, and I've tried lots of pie.
BLEH on the drive home but the nice thing about your dates is you still get Christmas at home and more vacation/relaxing before the real world intrudes again...even if it is a little rushed.
I like that too. I did book a room in Vegas on the night of 12/23 just in case. I can cancel up to 48* in advance. I like options.
Seriously I'm down to just enough left in my 2014 UY...to cover one night for the half. With all the trips I'll have used almost 3 full years of points. Scary! Any 2014 trips (which are really in 2015's calendar year, so confusing!) will be on 2015 points. We will likely be taking 2016 off though so I figure I'll catch up then.
Maybe.
You're not missing 2016 anymore than I am.
I am sure we'll have a race to run. Right MEK? Where she is anyway?

Uh oh, Gabby found out about the secret!?
Birthday breakfast sounds great, well any birthday meal does, but I just love breakfast food.
I used to have to pack my toiletries last minute since I didn't have extras. That stressed me out so now have everything in duplicates. Brush, shaver, soap, shampoo, deodorant, ect. My latest acquisition was a bath robe for the suitcase. I would always have to dry it before packing it the morning of travel. No more. Yes, I had to take it with me, it makes me happy![]()
I am terrible at keeping my own happy secrets. LOL!
I enjoy breakfast foods too especially while on vacation. I generally skip breakfast during the week but enjoy a big breakfast on the weekends.

I think you might need to take M to Starbucks and hint about points![]()
You're a smart woman! That's exactly what I am going to do. There is a Starbucks in DCA and it;s not too far from the DVC kiosk by GRR.

I think Pam's onto something!

Great looking plans. I'm curious to see how the no park hopping works out. And I'll have to remember the boat rental on Naples. I've previously looked at doing the Gondola rides.
Thanks, I know we're packing a lot in. The gondola is fun, I think you'd really like it. We did it years ago. It was a big date thing back in the day. I just booked out boat through Naples. The kids are going to flip out! Michael will be sad he's missing it.
