Not too many discount options??

Is it just me, or does everyone feel like this has been a slow year for discounts/codes? We have gone several times and I have always been lucky enough to get free dining, fairytale package, ect.... I'm just feeling like the AAA is the best they have to offer this year, at least for my dates. I guess you can't please everyone all the time.

Discounts are offered when they need to fill rooms.

Between 9/11 and probably up until late 2005, tourism was down and Disney needed to offer more discounts to get people to fill their rooms.

In 2006 and even more so in 2007, the number of people traveling to WDW and other destinations has increased greatly - therefore filling more of the resort rooms.

If the resorts are filling on their own, Disney doesn't need to offer any discounts.

Free Dining is offered in hurricane season as that is typically a slow time of year.

I thought( was hoping) they'd have to do something more than AAA, particularly because of Universal's big ticket deal.

Universal has to do the big ticket deal because Disney's business is up and Universal is down.

The Disney Dining Plan Free or Not is a big reason - people do not leave Disney for a day or two to visit Universal cause all the meals are at Disney - Smart Disney Business!

Also - I would plan to see less and less discounts offered- the travel industry has really rebounded since 9/11 and discounts are not needed as often to fill rooms.

Now if fuel prices keep going up and people quit traveling then we might see a resurfacing of all the discount codes, etc.

Remember this is JMHO!
