I would say when you get inside, break to the right and go to Cheetah Hunt first thing. It is very popular, and is the newest ride, definitely a must do for this park. I am assuming your group likes coasters? The next you'll get to on this path is Montu, which is a suspended coaster, in Egypt area. We like the "kiddie" coaster in Timbuktu, it is a bit rough, though, KINDA like Primevil Whirl at AK, though not as good. Also is the Scorpion in Timbuktu, this is a good coaster, with one loop, and no shoulder restraints. Next would be Kumba, and Sheikra. There are definitely some other good rides that are not coasters, too, including a couple in Timbuktu; one is similiar to a scrambler type ride, the other is a big boat ride, but this one actually does go all the way over, upside down. There are a couple play areas, Jungala which has a sky wire ride, a small drop tower, and HUGE rope play area as well as a water area. The second is Sesame, most of the rides here are too young for my kids, but they still enjoy playing a while in the treetops. Finally Gwazi, a wooden roller coaster. This is supposed to use some technology to make it less rough, it still threw me around pretty bad. You can bring in a bag, and there are lockers for a few rides, they generally cost 50 cents per locker, and are like the lockers at the mall/bus stations, etc with the key on a wristband. I believe I have heard that you can get away with bringing SOME snacks in, but haven't ever tried, as we have always done the all day dining deal, it is $30 per adult (over 9) but you get an entree platter, side or dessert, and drink ever time you go through at nearly every counter service restaurant in the park, and very few things are excluded. We usually arrive in time to eat breakfast at Zagora Cafe, usually like a breakfast burrito and fruit or pastry and drink, lunch at the BBQ place (love the bbq roasted chicken platter [only excludes baby back ribs and the big rib sampler as it also has baby backs on it, you can have anything else on the menu] which comes with fries, then get dessert and drink), and dinner frequently at the pizza/pasta buffet (all you can eat pizza/pasta/salad/dessert pizza/pudding). Plus in between we will stop 2 or 3 times for a snack (side item, maybe some fruit or a brownie, etc) and drinks, and maybe an additional time or two for an extra bottle of water. But if not that, you can buy a refillable drink cup and refill all day for low price, I think it is like $.80 each, and I am told that the souvenir popcorn bucket is also refillable for the same price.
