The "Star" or " World news Weekly" you know the " Elvis was actually an Alien and hes moved back to Mars, he made a picture of himself on the moon as he went by" type of magazine.
but yesterday when I was in the checkout at Wallys I saw a classic one...

the headline....

" Saddam and Osama in LOVE!! Proof inside"

My maternal grandmother believed every word she read in those magazines. She would fight you if you tried to tell her that one of her facts was likely not true.

It's a hoot to read the headlines of these things while waiting in the checkout line. I've never actually opened one of them, though.

My mother reads these sometimes just to get her mind off her real life illness.

I admit it.... I read those magazines (Star, National Enquirer & Globe). It's my weekend guilty pleasure (okay, one of my guilty pleasures ) I know some people probably think I'm a lowlife but I enjoy them... I certainly don't believe everything but they are interesting!!!

One of my all-time favorite headlines was "Man finds Mermaid in his tuna sandwich", and it had a picture of a man holding a sandwich with a little 6 inch tall mermaid laying on the bread. It was almost worth buying just so I could pass it along to others.

One of those magazines had Bat Boy in it -- Bay Boy enlisting, Bat Boy hunting OBL in the caves of Afghanistan, Bat Boy does this, Bat Boy does that. My coworkers and I (newspaper reporters and editors!) loved seeing what Bat Boy was up to!
