While I was going through some old trip documents in preparation for our next trip, I came across DD's "Sorry, you're not tall enough to ride yet, but bring this back when you are" card. For Star Tours. Anyone have experience with these kind of cards? Does this get used just like a FastPass? If so, that would be awesome, like one more set of Fast Passes in hand. :)

I don't think so. It's just something to give to the kid so that maybe they don't cry when they aren't tall enough to ride.

I don't have any experience with these, but think it's totally worthwhile for a parent to take this to a CM at a ride of interest and ask. Explain how the card has been saved for X years, waiting for this opportunity to use it.

We have a few of those.

To us the card itself is a wonderful reminder of our families history at
Disneyland and rests in out scrapbook. We would never turn them in for
some perk at the park.

We took a picture of the little girl that day holding the card in front of
the ride and then did the same thing 8 years later. I hope to take another
one when she brings her child someday.

We got these in WDW in January for Test track & Soarin'. We were hoping for Splash Mountain too, but no such luck. There they could be used like a fast pass for up to 5 people. We were down in March with my nephew and SIL, and we were able to use them then when DS hit the 40 inch mark:yay:. We also got to keep them as a souvenir; they added the date and how many people were in our party. It was cool.

I don't know about DLR but at WDW that is exactly how they work.

We got one for one of my kids a few years ago for Star Tours. When we went on our next trip & she was tall enough, we used it...and yes, it works like a fast pass.

DS got one this past trip for Jumpin' Jellyfish.

It's sort of a "sorry you were disappointed, but you'll have a something nice to use when you're tall enough" card. Show it to the CM and they allow you to go through the FP line with it. :goodvibes

Enjoy,

Um, thats AWESOME! I always just waited outside the ride on a bench when I knew DD was too short for a ride. MAN, we could've had tons of FPs for our next trip, lol!!! She was like, 1 inch if that, too short for all the Mountain rides. :rotfl:

I wouldn't be sentimental about them...no different than a FP in my book! A picture is enough memory for me...or I'd just make a copy of it and stick the copy in the scrapbook, lol. :thumbsup2

They totally didn't give us one of these at WDW last year. They claimed that DD5 was too short to ride EE (don't get me started on the position of that measuring stick, and yes, she rode SM multiple times that trip w/ the same HR). She went away crying and they handed us a child swap pass (which we didn't end up using). No effort from the CM at all to make the kid feel better. So, YMMV. I wouldn't count on getting one, but your kid may get to cry for your efforts...

From my understanding through these boards and friends with kids, they are not given very often. More like a "Surprise!" type thing. Makes it a bit more special, no? Anywhooo, if they gave them out every single time someone got in a line for an attraction they were too short to ride, could you imagine??!

In '07 DS was deemed too short for Star Tours (long story, he actually truly was the height but the CM was being weird and pushed down on him while measuring before the seating area), and someone gave him one of the cards.

When we went back in '08 we brought it back. ST didn't have FP then, so they looked at it, and then pointed us to a door. We went in, went up stairs, and came into the seating area from the other side. Most excellent.

He got two of them for Grizzly at one point (each day he wanted to be measured, and two CMs gave him a card even though we told the second he already had one). Never have been able to use them, as we tend to go during times when their FP line isn't open.

They don't TAKE them. They note the date you came back (the date the child can ride) and hand them right back.
