Not sure where else to put this... Clearwater?

Sorry, not quite DVC related...

We are going to Florida/Disney in either late June or early July. We want to go to the Ocean or Gulf, but really want the Gulf, specifically Clearwater area. Thing is... we've heard this is the time that Jellyfish and Stingrays? mate... so are closer to the beach. Is this correct?

We've been to the east coast multiple times.. but never been to the gulf side, hence our desire to go there.

Any help?

Also... there is an island on the Gulf side that is said to be a shell hunters paradise... what's the name? Begins with a C?

I live about five minutes from Clearwater Beach. Have never had a problem with jelly fish but sometimes you do have to be careful of the stingrays. When they are close to shore you walk without lifting your feet. It's called the stingray shuffle. There are usually signs posted to alert you. I don't know if the are more frequent at different times of the year. Just be careful and you should be fine.
