We want to have a holiday in June, obviously going to "Mick Mick Land!",I tried to book online with virgin for Quality inn,but they are fully booked, we really arent that bothered about anything too flashy (hotel wise) as this holiday wasnt planned,we decided the other day to just go for it,and save and book! But our total price range is around £1500, maybe a little more, £1600.
Thats for Me, Dp and 3year old DD.
We also want to stay on I-drive (as we love the busy life there).

The only cheapish hotel they have available is Best Western, i've read a few negative opinions on this hotel (room's), price is £1300(ish) for 2weeks and for 3weeks (which we want to book) around £1600...I'm concerned about the opinions i read, and DP valets for a ex virgin rep,she said the hotel is ok,same as quality inn,and my brother stayed there a while back and said they are ok hotels!
But i really dont want to go there for 3weeks,and be lumbered with a "disgusting!" room, like what happened in miami, lol.

what do any of you think?
I think its a fab offer, and will take it for the 3weeks,but ive read 2-3 opinions of the room being smelly/bed tatty/carpets mangy etc...then 3 good opinions saying the hotel is ok,and the rooms are fine lol?

If we knew last year we was going to go this year we could of booked something nice, but this is last minute, and money isnt tight, but we do need to save for the 4weeks to go, which we can do and will do but i want to at least know the hotel is ok.

lol any ideas????
Sorry to rant on.

Ohh Beth,

It's a choice isn't it?

I think I would go with the hotel quoted. If some reviwes are OK and some aren't, perhaps the hotel has rooms of differing quality? If this is the case and you have one of the less nice rooms when you arrive, you'll need to complain and asked to be moved:rolleyes: If need be you could threaten you'll move to another hotel,as they won't wan't to lose what your family will spend in the hotel for a three week period.

Let us know what you decide to do:confused:

This happened to me last year, we were already booked for the Clarion Universal and Caribean Beach Resort when I read awful reviews of both properties. I was really upset as we had paid all that money and everyone was saying how awful they were.

We decided to go and complain if we weren't happy. I walked int the room at Clarion and it wasn't very nice, so gutted but determined, I rang down to reception and said I wasn't happy. They were fully booked that night and it was late, but they promised to move us inthe morning, which they did, to a superb room, which was sparkling clean, no smoky smell, and a lovely view. I felt like we were at a different hotel.

The CBR was just beautiful, but again I was all ready to complain if need be.

Since then, we have decided that everyone has different expectations, and if any hotel didn't meet ours, that we would complain. If you are on a package tour, then if the hotel don't help, you can contact the rep and ask to be moved to a different hotel - I know someone on the boards did that last year because they weren't happy, and the rep told them to look at a couple of hotels and decide where they wantde to go.

I guess, the point of my ramblings, is book, go, enjoy, and if you do have any gripes, complain immediately, don't wait until you get back home.

by the way I got a quote from Holiday Warehouse for 2 weeks in April for £900 - that was for 3 of us, staying on I-drive, accomodation on arrival. As it happens we can't go due to Phil's uni commitments, but we discussed it, and figured that the above philosophy would see us through, we like I-drive and would be happy at any of hte hotels on there, so we would have been prepared to book under those conditions.

I don't know if you require a car or not but without one I have been quoted a price online of £1750.

I know its not in your budget but maybe you can find the extra ?

I stayed at the Rodeway in 2000 and had a great time. It's on a par with the Quality Inn but the rooms are in one tower block as opposed to the usual motel type layout.

I hope this helps, if not go with the Best Western, I doubt you'll have a problem.
