My Mom won't know until last minute if she will be joining us on our trip in July. I am in the process of making ADR's but the two places I have so far I said there were 4 in the party. Should I make it for five just in case? What will happend if I make it for 5 and she doesn't wind up going with us? Will I lose my reservation all together since there would just be four of us?
Any help would be great. Thanks

No, you will be fine. It is easier to have one less person then to add one more person.

I would make you ADR's for 5 rather than 4. It will be a lot easier for them to adjust and accomodate you at a table down from 5 to 4 than it would be for them to go from 4 to 5.

Thanks for the help. I was just worried that should we show up with only 4 that they may make us wait longer for a table for four or they may tell us we are out of luck.

No, they won't turn you away. But they could turn you away if you arrive with too many people.

Exactly--they might refuse to seat you with your extra person (fire codes, etc. limit the occupancy of the restaurant), but they will never turn you away for one fewer person.

The ADR gives you the next available table for your party size, so one person less won't affect your wait significantly either.
