just checked under SW and now Milwaukee is under from Jan 27 to feb 1 advisory of delay divert or cancel. Not sure what’s going to happen now. I guess it’s just wait and see. I can do our boarding passes tomorrow morning I guess I’ll find out more then. Not fun

The worst of the snowstorm (10”-12”) will be over Monday morning, with lighter snow till 6 PM Monday. It will be very windy, and when snow ends, temps dive to possible lows on Wednesday of -25 degrees, with wind chill of about -45 degrees. It will not be pleasant on Tuesday, but there won’t be more snow.

Are you flying to or from MKE?

I would definitely check in promptly at T-24 and call Southwest for updates.

You can check on your flight through www.flightaware.com, and by entering your flight number/travel date, you can check status and see where aircraft for your flight is coming from.

Thanks for the much needed great info I checked out the link you sent if I’m looking at right it still shows mon flight at 1225 that’s the flight we’re on tues. that sounds real encouraging where you said about all the flights being full that it sounds nfs like tues will be a go. However where on the website can you see where the plane is coming from. Thanks again. Are you from mke also in travel you seem to know a lot about flying. Thanks again. I sure hope we get off Tuesday

I fly Southwest quite often. Yes, I am in the Milwaukee area, with the lovely weather. I wish that I were flying down to Orlando! Don’t spend too much time worrying about the flight, but it’s good to stay informed.

They may spend a few extra minutes on the ground at MKE to de-ice, especially with the sub-zero temps on Tuesday, but that is very common in the winter.

The site you checked will give you very up to date info, and you can call Southwest anytime. I think that by early afternoon on Monday, they should have a good idea about Tuesday’s flights. I do think that the mid-day flight has a much better chance of going, than the first flight out in the morning.

Enjoy your trip!

Edit - It looks like Southwest is being proactive, due to weather, and they are not accepting any new bookings to/from MKE, for the next few days. I would definitely stay in touch with them and make sure they have a way to reach you, either phone, text, etc., in case of changes. But, also keep an eye on things yourself.

I think you will be okay, Dznypal. While Southwest does have a weather waiver for the entire work week for Milwaukee, other major airlines do not. Delta, American, and United only list Sunday and Monday. That tells me that those airlines believe that all of their flights will operate mostly on schedule beginning Tuesday.

Southwest tends to be a little more customer-friendly than other major airlines. In my opinion, that's why they are including the entire week and not just Monday in their weather waiver.

That’s good to know too. I just checked the flight aware there’s a flight leaving today I think it said 5 this aft. I’m wondering if that one is going to be leaving. Thanks for the positive replies. If it wasn’t for my kids and grandkids I would be living someplace warm not just visiting I so hate winter.

Also follow SW twitter feed as well as sign up for push notifications on their app. Even if there is a delay, be prepared for the flight to leave at the original time. Sometimes they'll be able to find a crew or aircraft to replace any that are substantially delayed, or a runway/gate might suddenly open up. Good luck!

Good luck, keep us posted, and have a great trip!

thanks Jim MIA . So far everything is a good with the snow we got today I really had my doubts. Thanks again to all . Take care
