I contacted Virgin to check out prices for our 2011 Wedding and for 14 nights with ultimate park tickets and free dining at the Yacht/Beach club I have been quoted £2074 each

Does this seem really expensive? We wanted to stay here as a special treat but not sure its completely worth it

What do you guys think?

What kind of wedding are you having?

If it's a DFTW then you will get 30% discount at YC/BC making it roughly £2221 even without discount you're looking at £3200 if you book direct with Disney.

If you are having a Wishes wedding then you'll get a free AP which will mean you don't need to buy tickets, and that the DDP won't be as good value as you could get by buying a TiW card with your AP.

If your wedding isn't a DFTW then price up your flights and hotel separetly with Disney UK/US and direct with the airlines before booking with Virgin.

Our trip last year would have cost us over £2k more for the exact same trip if we'd have booked through a TA!

I was mucking around on Virgin's site earlier as I noticed that in October 2011 there wasn't much difference in price between WL and BC/YC. I included the dining plan, tickets and car hire with Virgin for the BC and the price I got was £1200 more expensive than on with Disney inc DP and tickets and a rough guess for car hire.
However the Disney quote didn't include airfare and there is no way (even booking direct) that we will get flights for £1200 for 2 adults and 2 kids so Virgin was working out cheaper. Usually I do book DIY but I am going to look into this further as we would get a 15% booking discount being FVC members too.

I'm having an Escape wedding. The quote I got was from FVC and had 15% off so I didn't think it would get much cheaper. How would I get the discount through DFTW?

I find it a bit scary booking DIY. I have looked before but it never seemed much cheaper! but i will give it a go and see what happens

when we got married at disney we had to have a wishes wedding to get the room discounts so i dont know if you get them for escape weddings

We had an Escape VR in April 2009 and the annual passes were included with that too. We bought the TiW card and it paid for itself with the discount we got on our table service meals. We rented points to stay at BCV so didn't need a room discount.

Hi!:)

I am getting married at the Yacht Club this December and having an Escape wedding. I think the Escape discounts are 10%, but because you have to book through the Disney USA site - it does not work out cheaper than Disney UK for 2010 even with an annual pass discount of say 30-40% because of the exchange rate.

What we have done is book a couple of nights at the Yacht Club through Expedia room only - we are able to get concierge level for the same price through Disney UK garden view :woohoo:, so I would shop around at the 12 months mark.

We really wanted to stay on the Boardwalk for a week in total but not justify the room cost so we are staying the first 5 nights with our families at the Swan and Dolphin, were only paying a £100 a night there instead, we have booked directly through the Swan and Dolphin.

Or as others have said you could rent dvc points, (we have done this for the last couple of nights of our trip staying at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge as the last couple of nights hit the peak Christmas season and renting dvc points is cheaper than a room at Pop :scared1:- ) but if your wanting "luxury", just be aware your room will not be cleaned daily and the rooms arent the same decor of the actual hotel rooms :thumbsup2

Oh and were getting a Tables in Wonderland card too instead of the dining plan!

DONT DO IT!!!

with virgin that is ;)

We have just recently booked to stay at yacht and beach in August and there are 9 of us going!! and we are paying for some family to come along as a treat so trust me i did the leg work to find the cheapest deals.

I couldnt believe how expensive Virgin was this time!!
(we generally LOVE virgin and would fly with them everytime if poss. however this trip was more money cautious)

anyway, I found a similar price to you from virgin...
however I ended up booking the hotel direct through disney which was £2898 for a room at y&b for 14 nts including the free dining plan and 14 day ultimate park tickets (with two adults and child in it)
There was then 10% off if you booked this online (we only didnt because we needed to request 3 rooms together)

We then got flights with Thompson (not my first choice of airline but if its money first...)
which we got for £540 pp

So...if you got the 10% online discount this would make your trip
£1854 pp so saving almost £700...not bad really
plus when you book thru disney you only pay one nights deposit.

This might not help for your dates but hopefully you might look around and get a little better deal :)

Congrats for the wedding too...

Oh Im not sure how this works with booking the wedding, I presume if you do it direct this would work fine though.

Good Luck
x
