Not sure about resort choice

Hello,

We are getting ready to plan my daughter's first trip to Disney in May 2018 (she will be 5 then). We are making this a family trip, my parents, sister/BIL, me, my husband and daughter. I am leaning toward Art of Animation resort because of the heavily themed resort and I am sure my daughter will love it. I am not 100% sure about it though because I know we will need 3 different rooms but we don't want to be all spread out. Here are some of my concerns:

I am considering a standard room but was wondering if it is worth the extra $ to get the family suite just for the three of us?

If we decided to get a family suite and my parents and sis/bil each get a standard room would we be able to get in the same building?

Do any of the rooms have connecting rooms?

Any help or advice would be appreciated, I have not stayed at this resort before!

At AoA, the only standard rooms are in the Little Mermaid section of the resort. All other buildings are suites - Cars, Lion King and Finding Nemo. So if you booked a suite for the 3 of you, you would be in a separate building than the rest of your group in the standard rooms. Here is the layout of the resort.

ok thank you!

Still wondering if it is worth the extra money to upgrade from a standard room to the family suite, are there many differences besides size between the two room types?

We just got back from a stay at Art of Animation, it was 2 adults-3yr old-6month old. We had a Lion King Suite and loved it.

We were lucky enough have a ground floor room very close to the Animation Hall, so it was easy access to most of the resort, you'll be saving yourself a bit of hike by booking a suite.
The suites also had an eating area and a small kitchenette which did come in handy for the kids. The extra space was nice because at the end of a long day at the parks we had some pretty tired kids, so it was great to be able to put the kids into the bedroom and let them get some rest, then my wife and I had the living space to relax, watch some TV, eat, etc.

The Lion King Suite worked great for us, hope that helps.

Personally, with just the 3 of you, I wouldn't think it would be worth it. There are 4 of us (two teenagers, two adults) and we always just get a standard room (usually CBR). If the budget will allow, you may also want to look at the Princess Rooms at POR to make it extra special for your princess!
