not sure about Ohana

We've always enjoyed Ohana despite the love it/hate it reviews. We aren't going on our next trip though b/c that thread about the health department violations scared me away! :scared1:

Yikes!!! I must of missed that...do you have the link? I have an immunosuppressed dd and that sort of stuff scares me!!

If you kids were really little, I would say skip it since you had a long day. But with the youngest being 7 I would definately go.

I mean what are you going to do go back to your room at 7 and go to bed :rotfl2:

Everyone in my family loves Ohana, I am sure they are going to very disappointed we are skipping it this Decemeber because I want to try some new things. It is fun and food is really good. We waited over 30 minutes only when we were over an hour late for our ADR .

Have a good time.

My thoughts exactly!!! This will be our dd's 3rd trip to Disney and we always do full day at the parks...we do take a little break in the afternoon with a show, or just sitting and resting for a bit (my 8 yr old has a medical stroller so that helps), but I cannot imagine going back and going to bed..maybe a swim, but no way would they go to bed!!

I did end up changing our time to 5:15 instead of 7. If we get to AK at 8am I think 7/8 hours would be plenty!

I woke up bright and early this am and made my dining reservations. I got all the restaurants and times I wanted, but I'm really second guessing my Ohana reservation. We will be at Animal Kingdom during the day and eating at Tusker House for breakfast. We have 7:15 reservations at Ohana, but I read a lot that they are always running behind and then theres the mixed reviews. How long do you usually end up waiting for a table? I'm just not sold on it!

You sound like us!!

We at at Tusker House the morning we at Ohana! I know that it gets mixed reviews but honestly I loved both TH and Ohana. They were great meals and lots of fun. I will say that I LOVE DUMPLINGS AND WINGS. So, that's a great part of Ohana for me. My DH loved it, too. It was our third favorite meal - behind Tutto Italia and Tusker!

We waited about 30 seconds before we were seated at both TH and Ohana.

Whatever you decide you'll have a blast!!!

We absolutely love Ohana!! So much so that we have booked ot 2 times for our upcoming trip!! BTW my nephew who has allergies was able to eat there just fine. We let the server know and the chef came out and spoke with the parents about the allergies and then suggested what he could make for him. It was all good!! He even came out with a special dessert since he is also allergic to Banana's. We have always had wonderful dinners there and It is my husbands most favorite meal.
Infact last year it was the biggest hit of all meals for everyone. It was my fathers first visit, and he couldn't understand why we didn't just eat every meal there, lol!
I sometimes dream about my meals at Ohana!! I can't wait to be there!!

Ohana's is a must do for us every trip. My dh loves it, and it is fun for the kids, too.

We have a similar schedule for our upcoming trip, but I don't think we will be at AK until closing; we will probably leave about 2 or so and our ADR is for 8. I would consider something similar for you. No matter what you will have to eat dinner some time, right?

the wait times that were cited....were those w/ reservations or just showing up / walk-up times?

I tried to look for something 9/29, 9/30 and says nothing avail...:confused3

We always have reservations so our wait times which have ranged from walking right in to waiting 30 minutes are based on us showing up for our set ADR time.

Thats great to hear!! We have only ever done character buffets and I wasn't sure how Ohana's would be with food allergies (I'm sure there all pretty good) we have always had the chef come out and they usually end up making her something different from what is being served...even dessert.

I'm defiently going to keep the reservation and just try it out.

This was one of the places that we couldn't wait to eat at on our recent trip. I have to say that we won't be back. We weren't that impressed. As far as the wait time, we waited about 25 minutes for a party of 3, which wasn't bad. The food wasn't awful, but it wasn't the best either. The salad was very good and so was the bread, but the meat was pretty dry. I do have to say that the desert was amazing!! I loved it. There are so many other places to eat in Disney that we would rather try something different on our next visit. Since you will be at the AK, maybe you could try Jiko. We loved our meal there.

Love the food but the kids were so busy they almost had no time to sit and eat.
