Not staying at your Favorite Resort to Save $$ ??

I never let a resort ruin my Disney experience. Sure, there are some places I would rather stay than others but I am at Disney. A few years ago we ended up at CBR instead of WL which is where I really wanted to stay. But I couldn't get our dates at WL with a code. So, I went to CBR with a positive attitude and ended up having as good a time as I would have had at the WL. I think your trip is what you make of it - if you go wanting to be at Poly and compare where you are staying against what you had at the Poly you will probably be unhappy because no two resorts (even deluxes) are the same. But if you pick a resort and look at what that resort has to offer, I am sure you will have a great trip. Maybe I am different some of the people here who seem to think one resort is the absolute best and every other resort is lacking but to me no one resort that I think is grater than all others. Each has its own special offerings and if you are willing to look at your resorts special offerings you will have a great time. Have a great trip whichever resort you chose. You are at Disney!

After the Beach Club, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Contemporary, we planned on staying at the Wilderness Lodge for NYE. But I'm changing my ressie to Pop, where we've never stayed before. I just don't want to spend the big money after just getting off a DCL cruise.
So we won't be at one of our deluxe favorites, but it would NEVER stop us from going to WDW! I can't even imagine not wanting to go to WDW just because you can't get a room at one specific hotel. I can't wait to try Pop!

Poly is our favorite resort! But, I got a great AP rate for our March trip at AKL ..... Now, I am thinking of switching to Poly because I think I will miss it toooo much! I am trying to have will-power, but it just isn't working!

We love the Boardwalk Villas, Animal Kingdom Lodge...but..when we are making quick trips..or want to save money..the All star resorts..or Pop Century can't be beat. The resort layout is so excellent. Very convenient. Great pools, food courts (the all star food courts have a slight edge). Nice clean laundry rooms. We have never had a problem with noise (well, only once..the cheerleading competition was in town..those girls were up very, very late, running around screaming and yelling).

We have stayed at all the moderate resorts..they just don't appeal to us. They have horrible layout, mediocre food courts.

LOL, in our family every time we go to WDW wherever we stay becomes our new favorite resort! They all have their charms.

While I believe that being at Disney in and of itself is magical, a resort stay can make or break your visit if you plan to spend time relaxing in the room or on your balcony!

I am definitely a balcony person so our stay at AKL ruined by countless cell phone conversations on OTHER balconies, kids kicking railings and other problems almost ruined our visit there a few years ago. We've had far better stays at the CBR and POFQ even without a balcony!

In fact, to save money because I couldn't get a code this time we're staying at the POFQ again. I love the compact design and can't wait to see the new rooms. While we love deluxe resorts, especially the Poly and Contemporary we couldn't justify the $$$$ without a code.

We also happen to enjoy the food courts and the 'more-down to earth' atmosphere the moderates seem to have.

But, I have found that wherever you stay something will be special about the resort! Something to keep in your memories!

That's exactly how I've felt. I loved the CBR on our first trip, adored POFQ, and was blown away by POR. I wouldn't cry if we had to do any of them again, and I have this feeling that we will probably end up doing all of them at some point, except maybe the values. If I'm not going to have a hot tub anyway, I might as well camp.
