Not-so-Splendid China

Don't know if this has been posted before ("search" didn't show anything, but only went back to 12/1, after the board change), but Splendid China is no more! They had a liquidation sale Dec 9-11, while we were staying at Windsor Palms. I don't know if the closing is due to low attendance, hurricane damage (appeared to be quite a bit), or a combination of the two. Seemed so sad, the demise of a theme park...

It closed 12/31/2003. I know most reports agree that tey had to spend an unusal amount (compared to their other locations) on upkeep (due to sun and perhaps more tactile visitors):

I'm glad I visited it once while it was open. It was pretty interesting, even if it seemed like more walking than Disney.

It was closed last January due to lack of visitors after the slouching years after 9/11, same as Cypress Gardens, however, they found a new benefactor and seem to making a good go of it!
