Has anyone ever done this? You have to pay extra ($134 for 2 adults 2 kids) to go and its at the MK, they close the park at 6:00 and reopen at 7:00 for this special trick or treat party. They are going to have it 3 nites while we are there and was wondering if its worth the extra money to go to it. ::MickeyMo
Thanks

there is a faboulous post on this in the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies listing --- I love this party - You can get inthe park as early at 4pm with your ticket - there are almost no lines for any of the rides - it took us longer to walk the line of Space Moutain than to wait for the ride...

You can trick or treat in the park, see the character, a special parade, a free family photo etc - I LOVE it.

Good luck making your decision!

I don't know how to make it a link - but here is the address to the post. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=809958

Absolutly!!! We did it in 2001 on Halloween, which was a capacity crowd. The kids still talk about it. We are planning to spend the extra for the Christmas party this year, so I guess we are hooked.

DH and I did it in 2003. We had a great time. Be sure to hear "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" being read in Liberty Square. Also, don't miss the ride of the Headless Horseman.

We're another family that has done this and LOVED it! Don't miss it!!

We have done both the Halloween and Christmas parties, both are excellent and would recommend it to anyone who goes and likes Disney World.

My family and I visited Disney World from Saturday, October 5, 2002 through Monday, October 14, 2002. Our entire party stayed at the All Star Music Resort; in total there were more than 20 people in our party. The only aspect of our visit that disappointed us was the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

The problem started with a call we placed to Walt Disney World regarding E-night dates for October. At this time we were informed there were no e-nights for October because of the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. The representative proceeded to explain that this is a limited ticketed event and went on and on about how the Halloween Party was so much better than an E-Night. According to the representative there were only a small number of tickets sold which would allow for shorter lines, less people, trick-or-treat opportunities for the children, a Halloween Parade, and fun in costume for the adults and children. He also explained to us that more rides, attractions, and food locations were opened during the Halloween party than during e-nights. By this time the representative had very us excited about the party and I immediately purchased six tickets; five adults and one child.

When we arrived at the Magic Kingdom about 6:30 PM for the event we were overwhelmed by the number of people at the park. Both of my parents require the use of electric scooters, which they bring with them. They were run over, pushed, shoved and basically trampled by the mass of people. My children (ages 7 & 10) waited in extremely long lines at two trick-or-treat locations before giving up on that. The lines for the rides were twice as long at the Halloween party than they were when we returned the following Saturday morning. We never even got to see the parade as there were far too many people in the way. We were unable to ride even one ride due to the pushing and shoving of the enormous crowd at this “limited event.”

It was our belief this was not the limited event it was billed as. There were far too many people for the number of employees on staff. The staff had no control over the guests skipping in line, the crowds trampling smaller children and/or disabled visitors.

About 7:30 PM we decided we had had enough of being shoved around, trying to get into lines, and the chaos in general. We couldn’t wait to leave the Magic Kingdom. By the time we were able to navigate through the crowd we got out of the Magic Kingdom closer to 8:30 PM and we hadn’t ridden one ride, seen one attraction, or eaten any food. We were tired, hungry, and extremely disappointed when we left the Magic Kingdom that night. We were also very upset with the amount of money we spent without an ounce of enjoyment out of it. We wasted our time and plenty of our money. In hindsight, we would have had a more enjoyable time either at Downtown Disney or swimming at the hotel.

We went to MNSSHP last year in October, in fact, we went twice that week. It was marvelous. My grandsons 6 and 5 really enjoyed it. We were able to trick or treat, ride rides, view parades and fireworks without any problems. Sure there were lots of people, but we did everything. We were glad we did go twice so we didn't feel like we missed anything. I had to wait in a long line for my AP special pin, but other than that, it was wonderful.

Wow, what a shame you had such a bad experience. Did you go on a Friday night or Columbus Day? Usually the parties at the beginning of the month are nice and not so crowded. It's also too bad you gave up so quickly; you only stayed an hour. Yes, Main Street is insane during the time you arrived because everyone is staking out a spot for the first parade.

I think if you headed to the back of the park and waited it out, it would have died down as the night progressed.

Depending on which part of the park you are in during which part of the night, you could have a different experience with crowds.

In my experience going on Halloween night (sold out every time) the trick or treat lines seem long but go VERY fast.

The parade alone is worth the price of admission.

Toontown is great fun Halloween night.

I, of course, think it's worth it and we LOVE it.

I think if you go in with a strategy and arrive early, like 4:00p or 5:00p you'll have a GREAT time!
