Hi All!

My wife and I are going to WDW in September for our honeymoon. This will be both of our first times to "the world" and so obviously the first time to MNSSHP. We were just wondering what are some of the things that we should do at the party?

We are not planning to dress up primarily because of how hot it is going to be at the time. We know we want to see the headless horseman in the parade and view HalloWishes. Other than that and the rides what does MNSSHP have to offer adults?

Thanks in advance for all the advice,
Ron (kaze1sd)

I wouldn't rule out dressing up because you think it'll be hot. It'll probably will be hot, but you can create a simple costume. DH and I went as Mouseketeers last year. All it involved was a t shirt (used iron ons), shorts/skirt, and mouse ears. I was Annette and he was Cubby.

I've noticed some changes in MNSSHP from 2003 to 2005. I didn't see the storyteller in 2005 in Liberty Square. I even asked where he was, and was told he wasn't there. The Liberty Belle was in rehab, so no boat. And the witch that used to fly from the castle was also gone. However, I did enjoy the new MNSSHP parade music and the fact that the Headless Horseman slows down quite a bit so you can get a good view of him (and a picture!).

DH & I went last year. OH MY GOODNESS!!! It was great. It was the first time for us. Unfortunetly HM was closed due to some problems but Thunder Mountian was open as was Jungle cruise, POTC, tea cups... actually most of the rides & attractions. We got dress up & loved it. We were there on Halloween so it was really special. It was so worth the extra money for the tickets. The Boo To You parade was great. The song stays with you! We missed the Headless horseman (bummer) but the fireworks were unbelievable! Love what they do the castle. Of course there is candy. That's part of the fun. They are very good about keeping the lines moving at the candy stops. We came home with several pounds of candy. It was too funny. Make sure you get your free picture. If you collect pins they have special pins for each party. People get on line for that 1st thing. We got ours as we left so we missed the rush. People also rush the emporium to get the collector shirts. You can by pass the emporium & check the other stores as you can find the shirts through out the park. If you are going to buy one get them asap as they do sell out. You can just aviod the rush at the first store in the park. The party can get crowded but everything moves right along. Even the wait for hte rides is not that long. Most of the kids leave right after the fireworks so the park does clear out alittle. It makes it easier to see the 2nd boo to you parade. Of course it may not be as busy the day you go as Halloween but they have it down to a science. If I can answer anyother questions just ask! ENJOY!!! Let your inner child go!!!

Yeah, a couple more newbie questions... for now.

I noticed MK closes at 6pm for regular park guests and that MNSSHP starts at 7pm. Do they kick everybody out to setup for MNSSHP or just the non-MNSSHP guests?

I've read somewhere that in the past MNSSHP guests were "allowed" to enter the parks as early as 4pm. Does this mean that all the halloween decorations are already setup?

Yes last year they let you in at 4:00pm with the ticket. You get a wristband that shows you are suppose to attend.

Then at 6:00 they start to corral in one section of the park (we just went to tomorrowland and started riding rides ) .

Some stuff is left up but a lot is pulled into place during that hour it's amazing how they do it so fast .Then they let you loose and the party begings.

What a great place to choose to have your honeymoon! Especially on your first trip! :cloud9:

You are going to have a great time.

We are going to be on our honeymoon as well and will be there for September 15th. We don't intend on getting costumes but may pick up some novelty items like at Pirates of the Carribbean (hats, etc.) or some Tshirts at Old Navy (halloween themed) before we go.

I noticed one poster above said that they sell souvenier Tshirts, what are they like?

They change from year to year. I seem to recall them being a tie-dye orange or tie-dye purple with an image of the MNSSHP on the front. I never really liked them myself.

if I recall correctly (which I might not  ) , last year the adults were orange and the kids were green. The picture on the front was a shilloutte of Mickey and Doland walking in the toward a spooky mansion. Of course I could be wrong, perhaps that was what was on the trick or treat bag. If you are a pin collector then you'll be happy to know that they have a 1 of a kind pin for each night of MNSSHP that is available only on that night. (well or you can pay like 300 or 400) for an entire framed collection. I am not a pin collector myself, tho last trip down I did pick up a couple, but the night I went it was Stitch....and thus did not get it. I know tons of people on these boards love him, but I think he is way overused and overpushed by Disney.... *runs for cover*

Now for the event itself. My sister was down at the Contemporary for a nursing convention and thus I 'invited' myself to tag along. I never miss an opportunity to visit WDW. I checked the nights we we were to be down there and saw the last night had MNSSHP going on and ordered tickets...then informed her we'd be going and we'd be dressing up...I told she didnt have a choice :rotfl: But she is not one to dress up and she was worried it would be too hot as well. So we set out for something that could be quick and cool. We decided on what countless others had and went with pirate: We hit a local party store and spent about 15 bucks for constume supplies. 2 plastic swords, 2 skull and cross bone caps and treasure bag and coins. We dressed in black shorts and white shirts and I took a white pillowcase and ironed on a picture of a skull and cross bones and that said 'surrender the candy!' Yes indeed those were the most complex costumes by any means, but it helped feel like we were part of the even rather then just observing it. Man there were a lot of pirates tho and some of the costumes were incredible. I told my sister we were the scab pirates incase the real ones decided to go on strike :lmao: I thought it was great when we went trick or treating and CMs would drop a piece or two into my sister's bag and a handful or two into my bag :rotfl:

As for what there is to do as an adult. Yes many of the vents are geared towards the kids, but Disney has never forgotten about us adults (and not to mention I think once you pass through the gates of Disney (if you are lucky and havent totally abandoned that part of youself) you become part kid again. If you are a Disney fan (which obviously you are since you are spending your honeymoon there) you'll enjoy the evening. The decorations are great, seeing all the characters in their costumes is definitely something you dont see often. The variation of the fireworks and parade are very enjoyable and something that many people never get to see. (and you'll have boo to you stuck in your head for a day or two) And if you are a fan of the Villains of Disney then you'll love that you are actually able to see a large number of them for once. I love them as much, sometimes more, then the heroes. In my book half of what makes a great hero is overcoming an incredible villain.

okay I have rambled enough. I am hoping to go again this year and hoping to talk my other sister into letting me take my nephew (he'll be 4 by then) with me. He loves Halloween and Disney (just like me :teeth: )
