Not so great table mates

We were just on the Dream and had some interesting hall mates. On the first day, I was obsessively checking outside for my luggage and kept hearing yelling in the hallway. Finally, I couldn't help myself and had to look. It was a woman three staterooms down who kept screaming after her kids (who ran up and down the hall day and night for the rest of the cruise) about how no-good their father was - with some obscenities thrown in for good measure.

The woman was unmistakable in looks and had some unique tattoos - so you can imagine my surprise when I saw her family seated at the table just one down from ours at dinner! Well, her ire for her children's father went on several times during the cruise - known only because she was shouting it down the hall.....popcorn::

This family was not at our table but was at the table immediately behind us at one of the 3 dining rooms. They were a large group and they let their children run around the table all night. One of their kids almost trip a waiter several times with a tray full of dinner trays.
On our character breakfast morning, this same family came in late after a couple of the characters had already come by. They started trying to grab the characters for pictures as they'd go to the back for their "break" and away from tables they were supposed to be at.

Trip the waiters... on purpose?!?! :scared1:

I don't know that it was on purpose, but the kids were running around the table and would run in front of the waiters at the last second. They started to go the long way around that table even though it was the most direct route to the serving station.

Thank you for that sweet post-it made my day! Being the mother of an autistic son, we do get lots of stares and I am sure many comments that I decide not to listen to at all. Of course, there are plenty of nice people like yourself who seem to sympathize and wish us luck.

For the most part, our table mates have been great. We sailed with a group of 6 people... ages 35 - 40'ish one year on Celebrity... For whatever reason, they stuck us at a table with another couple in their 60's... from the South... Now... not that that's a bad thing... but sticking retiree's at a table of 40'ish folks from New York City... We just didn't gel.

lol

Now... I guess we'd be the horror story people talk about... We had dinner reservations in the specialty restaurant aboard Carnival Dream last year... and we proceeded to just make a ruckus. (I guess the NYC restaurant scene sort of rubs off... we made WAY too much noise... but... we had fun).

Just kind of skimmed through this thread. This is one of our (wife and I) biggest fears. I actually requested a table for 2, but was told that the smallest table they can do is for 4 people.

Hopefully we can just sit alone, but if not hopefully it's not a horror story. We did request that there be no kids at the table (parents don't flame me). We just want it to be romantic!

Our first and only so far cruise we dined alone but were very close to 2 other tables. Both had kids younger than ours. We tried to start up conversations but did not get far. The kids later said they were glad we did not share as they know if we do they get to talk to the other kids while we talk to the adults. I had not thought about their perspective. They enjoyed not being "kids" but just regular people at meals for the week. We made no preferene for our next cruise. Excited to see if we are seated with people. Love the idea of sitting with fellow DIS'rs...

I'm just twisted enough to almost hope for some 'interesting' tablemates just so I can share the story afterwards :rotfl2: .

Hmm...or maybe I'll set my family up to be the interesting ones and then watch this thread to see if we'll be famous pirate: !

Okay, just kidding on that last one so if we do turn out to be 'interesting', it won't be pre-meditated! :lovestruc
