Hey guys....I know everyone can add some great 'dry' food suggestions to have for breakfast or snacks in your room

I have some ideas but am going to Kroger tomorrow and someone might throw somethings out we aren't thinking of

We are driving so can take whatever needed, and we will be staying at a Mod. Resort so will have a fridge :upsidedow

Just myself and hubby and definitely wanting to save some $$$ on breakfast items, and not buying them at the parks

THanks for any suggestions!!!!

cottage cheese doubles

and the other day I saw a package of already hard boiled eggs right above where the fresh eggs are

Instant oatmeal or grits
Donuts
toaster pastries (since you have a fridge, i'm guessing it has a freezer in it)
muffins in individual packs
snack cakes

If you like coffee, maybe a flavored creamer (the gingerbread holiday flavor that's out now is great.)
Oatmeal, oodles of noodles, easy mac (all made with hot water from the coffee pot),
Pringles or Lays stackers (no bag to try to keep shut)
variety pack of cracker packs
trail mix
fruit
pre-cut veggies (like the celery/carrots with dip packs)
tuna snack kits
beef jerky
smoothies (the ones that are by the yogurt section)
tortilla chips and salsa
pita chips and pre-made hummus
peanut butter & jelly sandwiches
deli meat for sandwiches
bagels and cream cheese
peanut butter pretzels
string cheese
cheese cubes

Ok, I'm going to stop...I'm making myself hungry!! :rotfl:

On our vacations, we always bring:

-I second the instant oatmeal/grits
-Laughing Cow or Baby Bel cheese wedges
-Turkey Pepperoni
-Triscuits
-PB & J
-Dried fruit
-Dry cereal

My shop list:

Bagels
Creme Cheese
Yogurt
Small bottles of OJ
String Cheese
Apple Slices prepackaged
Dried Fruit - apricots etc
Granola type bars
Individual packages of crackers

Anything that does not go in fridge I want sealed in individual bags. I don't like to open anything and have it sit out because of ants etc. So crackers, cookies, cereal etc all will be the small individual servings.

-deli meat.
-pb & j.
-string cheese.
-little debbie snacks.
-creal bars.

When I stayed at POR...
I brought
Yogurt, butter, jelly/PBJ(very small size), Juice like OJ, a Loaf of bread or english muffins, the already cooked bacon, mini muffins, trail mix or dried fruit, ceral and a few pieces or sturdy fruit like apples/oranges/pears, (ziploc sandwich bags/paper plates).

Many mornings I would run down to the food court(I like the excercise and the alone time)- toast up a few slices of bread, get one side order of eggs or meat(or heat up your precooked bacon). You can fill your refillable mug with milk- and head back to the room. DH would oversee the kids getting ready.

In the Room Menu was:
Egg (w/wo bacon)sandwich
Toast/Butter/jelly
PBJ
Ceral and milk(mix in trail mix/dried fruit if you like)
Juice and Yogurt
fruit and Mini-Muffin

On the Move Menu (pack and bring to eat while waiting for bus or at park-you can not eat/drink on bus)
Same as above except no milk in ceral(put that in a ziploc bag)
Juice could be in a water bottle
Mini-muffins(esp frozen) will hold up for a little while

For Breakfast we do cereal and milk, bagels and jelly or peanut butter, and fruit. We also have lots of water in the room. For snacks, we have chips and dip, granola bars, and animal cookies.

Just looked it up they will stay good for a week so I might just cook some b/f we leave....good idea :)

toaster pastries (since you have a fridge, i'm guessing it has a freezer in it)

I'm assuming it has a little freezer also....but not sure, and we are taking a toaster so that will work :).....I also wondered with some frozen items...like those pastries, waffle's, breakfast sandwiches.....if they are frozen items but are kept refridgerated until eaten if they are still ok??!!?? Any one with ideas on that please chime in :upsidedow

Thanks Christine :goodvibes ....I'm HOOKED on the pumpkin pie(International Creamer Brand) creamer....if you haven't tried it DON'T miss it!!!.....I don't even like pumpkin pie and this stuff is AWESOME!!!! Basically just taste like a spiced creamer....just great!!

And thanks for the coffee pot tip....I had to have someone tell me that :confused3 ....felt kind of stupid....haha :lmao:

Good idea....putting your meal together could save a lot of $$$....and I'm definitely getting the little OJ's b/c my hubby will always eat breakfast and that will save some too

THANKS EVERYONE for the great ideas.....and keep them coming!!!!

I'm SO excited about my trip....leaving friday!!!!!

Thanks again!

Those Jimmy Dean Sausage and Egg sandwiches are excellent. NO need to freeze either.

I am laughing here as I pack my own coffee pot, I know there is one in my room, but we are that particular about our coffee that I bring my percolator and I bring my special coffee... I will stop on the way to Disney at Publix and pick up a few things for our room, but we will have a refrigerator, so breakfast is in our room and then we start the day....we always have fruit and snacks for later in the evening. Just saving on breakfast is a big deal.....

I think you got some wonderful ideas from the previous posters...

This line peaked my interest, Can you use the refillable for Milk??? :confused, Last Feb they would not allow us to use it for milk, said it was for fountain drinks, tea and coffee. They only had cream available so if i wanted milk for my tea, i had to ask separately and they gave me a shot glass amount... Anyone know if this changed?
