I wanted to give my DFs a night's stay in a DVC room as a birthday present, and they chose the night before Mother's Day. Jambo, Kidani, each standard view studio, or SSR were available. They are booked, and I'm pleased. I wasn't sure anything would be available, but it's a tradition for this family to go to WDW for Mother's day, now they can have the weekend together.

I was surprised that it was standard that was available. "Standard" at BLT and BWV book first, but apparently, not at AKV! Saved me a few points!

These are real good friends! I've known Bev since kindergarten and it's her DH's 70th birthday! Only once were we and my DMom able to join them on their yearly celebration, but that was a memory we all treasure.

Sounds fun! And the great thing about a having a standard room at AKV is that the resort has so many great viewing areas, you still have wonderful opportunites to see the animals, which makes the point save feel even better!

That's so true. Recently I've been booking value 1-2 bedrooms when I'm with a group, and have gotten a pool view mostly. Still, I've seen lots of animals. We used the shuttle that goes between Jambo and Kidani to see all of the savannahs and do the bead activites at both resorts. I had a 3 night non park trip in January with friends and all of us were delighted!

What a nice gift

Despite their lower points, our group (especially DH) would be very unlikely to book a standard view room. We stay at AKV for the animals and we would all miss sitting out and enjoying them from our balcony. I'm sure that the standard rooms are just as good but we have been spoiled. I think that is why standard at AKV doesn't book up like standarad at other DVC.
