I am a new dvc member in process of buying bw points through the timeshare store. Subject to availability we r planning a trip in oct 2011. Since we come from uk we will be over for two weeks, and basically either going to take 1 bed for two weeks or 1 bed for week and 2 bed for week (so grandmothers can come second week). Based on points I am buying, I have enough for 2 weeks in 1 bed, but 30 points short for 1 and 2 bed option. I understand u can buy extra days at discounted rate I believe, is that what will happen here, to cover short fall?
Sorry for daft question

Your options are to borrow points from your next Use Year to cover the needed points, purchase one-time-use points from DVC (maximum of 24 points and only at 7 months), find another member to transfer points into your account (must be the same Home Resort if reserving more than 7 months ahead) or find another member to rent a few nights and link that reservation to your own reservation.

Sounds like a wonderful use of your DVC membership. :)

Enjoy!

There's a few options:

1) Remember, you can borrow points from "next year" to cover any shortfalls. For example, if you get 300 points per year....you could borrow 30 points from NEXT year's allotment (giving you 330 points this year, but only 270 points for next year). Be careful with this...because once you borrow points, you can't put them back.

2) You can buy, from DVC, up to 24 "one time use" points at $15 per point. That's still going to leave you a few points short, but it's an option.

3) You can "rent" another members points (on the rent/trade board, here or at another, similar, place) and have them transfer those points into your account.

You also can see if there are any cash rooms available thru MS. If there are then they can link it to your point reservation. The rate is 25% off of rack rate.
