Not off to a good start.

I just called my air company and they just told me that DCL have me booked on two different flights.

AND I can't get 2 seats together for myself and my DS 9 who has never flown before.

I'm concerned now. I had DCL book my air for our upcoming cruise in May and now I'm concerned that I should have paid the extra $ to do an "air deviation" to guarantee 2 seatss together on the same flight and that the flight be non-stop.

Ambushangel I noticed that you are from Ontario - where are you flying out of?

Elaine

P.S Ambushangel I also sent you a PM but wasn't sure if you'd see it and if I do the air deviation I have to decide by Monday the 14th so I covered all bases and posted here as well.

We flew out of Toronto on our cruise. I had never flown before and I was a little nervous (terrified :scared: ) to sit by myself. There were wuite a few people in lineasking to change their seating. The man in front of me was abusive to the lady at the des, going on about how much he had spent, that the people who got discounted rates should have to sit apart and that his family of 6 WAS going to sit together no matter what she said. When I went up after him I said very nicely that I had never flown before and I would appreciate sitting beside my DH if possible. She said she could not guarantee anything and we would have to just wait. My name was called less than 5 mins later and she gave us new seats together. The man did not get his seats together and the whole family was obnoxious the whole flight. Walking back and forth between the seats, blocking the aisle to stand and chat and just generally being loud and annoying. We did fly home with a different airline than we flew down with but is was no big deal. I asked nicely at the desk and they moved our seats again.

Don't worry about your son flying alone. My sons have been doing it since they were 5, which is the minimum age for solo minors at Air Canada. They love doing it. Just make sure he has a book or a favorite game and a snack. Don't worry and enjoy your cruise.

This same thing happened to our family, my 2 youngest dds were seated together 2 rows ahead of me. We got to the airport early, explained the situation. They said that the flight attendant would ask if someone would switch with me. Well they did, and the man didn't want to ( I was wondering why he wanted to sit next to 2 little girls (5&7). So (on the advise from another flight attendant) I sat the girls down ( the plane is full now, and they are both crying) and said ( kinda loud) "It's ok, mommy will be right here, and if you feel like your going to through up, just yell for me." That man jumped up so fast, he almost hit his head on the bin above him. Needless to say, on the flight home after the cruise, the oldest did get sick, but I was sitting next to her to take care of it.
So, don't worry, it will all work out !
Have a fun trip!
(oops just noticed, I'm signed in under my dd)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Excellent job! That's some quick thinking there...I'm filling this idea away for future reference.
