Not Making ADRs

Last year when we went in August we had the free dining :cool1: >We just took our chances, didn't make any ADRs and it all worked out just fine. Take into consideration though, we don't do character meals and used all but one TS at lunch.

We're buying the plan this August and I'm leaning towards not making many this year either. What do ya'll think.... my thoughts are that if the dining is not free this year then we should be ok as long as we use the TS at lunch again or for an early dinner??

Your opinions are appreciated.

Also, when can I make them... my CM did not want to take any yesterday when I made my reservations. She advised me to wait until approx 180 before my arrival date. Jeepers, I just fiqured it out, that's only two weeks from now!

I don't like to take chances, so I made ADR's for our trip in at the beginning of January. I saw people being turned away fromsome of the places that I choose. I am not a Disney expert, my experience is very limited, but if you have your heart set on certain restaurants or like TS rather than CS, I would make at least some.

I agree with Nancyg56, we went last October and for just about every TS we had we saw people being turned away (and we made ADR's early too) Make them and than if things change you can always cancel better safe than sorry :thumbsup2

I didn't want to make ADRs because I don't want the structure, but I was afraid of being turned away and not getting to use all my TS credits. So I went ahead and make them.

I went this past September and I only made one ADR for the restaurant I most wanted to eat at. Everything else worked out perfect, except for that last day of our trip when we were stuck at MGM and couldn't get a seat anywhere. I ended up using a TS for a CS, which kind of stunk.

Next time I go, since I don't like structure either, I am going to do a few days ahead while I am there. Plans sort of come together when you are there and you are in the process of enjoying your vacation. For example, one night I knew we would spend the next day at Epcot, so I called and asked for a couple different places and what times they had opened and just picked. Thats the other good thing about not having a schedule, you can be adapting to the times they have to offer.

Good luck and have fun!

ohh I couldn't not make ADR's.....even if we end up cancelling some at least I know I am going to get a seat!

If you want to eat anywhere in the parks, I would make ADRs. If you are ok with TS at the resorts, then it might be ok.

When we were there, there was a sign when you walked into MK that said "All Table Service dining filled for the day". Also, when we were at EPCOT, I saw people being turned away saying they weren't taking any walkups.

I make lots of ADRs when we are a large group. But other than the CC hold dinners I feel free to cancel as plans change but I feel it is better to have ADRs and cancel than not. I don't want to have lots of DGK cranky because they are hungry.
